The Original Jaws Blazer Build

Wow! Now that's service!

They are definately wider than the stock look....in fact, they are the same as what's on there now. It's a good size for the Blazer...I am just not certain it's the look I am going for.

What would 31" tires look like on a 6" rim?

They'd look a bit narrower overall, and less "square". Obviously the sidewalls would look a bit more pulled in. I have some 35 x 12.5's on the same 8" rims...and that'd be pretty much what the 31 x 10.5's would look like on the 6" rims. It's too dark right now, but I'll do a walk around on one of those too so you can see. You'll just have to imagine the smaller diameter.

Kind of hard to see, but this is my '75 on 31" tires on the stock 15x6s:

What did you not like about the 31' on 15x6?

Just the wheel itself. I wanted a deeper dish look, so I got the 15x8s. Other than that it was fine. I've seen lots of trucks with this wheel/tire combo. I wouldn't go any bigger than a 31" without a wider wheel though.

I found a decent looking skinny tire, but the smallest size it is made in is 16"...the BF Goodrich Commercial TA

Did the 31" on 15x6 look somewhat "skinny"?

definitely not as tall and skinny as that. i don't remember my 31" tires being skinny at all on the 15x6 rims. I'll have to see if I have a better picture.

That's not a tire you want for this truck. That tire is for HD trucks that carry heavy loads on a daily basis. With tires and wheels you can be "close enough" to the original image and no one will notice. I think that 31x10.5 on 15x8 white steel wheels with caps will look just right, but that's my opinion. And if it were me, I'd be looking at the BF Goodrich All Terrain T/A KO as a first choice cause those tires have been around for ages. Maybe not as long as the movie but almost. I also like the Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo, not an old school tire but a very good one.

These are 31x10.5 on 15x7. Not the style wheel or a 15x6 but maybe you get an idea of what they look like.

btw, not me in the pic, I'm in the truck.

Does anyone know how to measure the "offset" on a 15x6 wheel. The trouble is that when I go to a yard, they usually have the tire on them and I am not good enough to eyeball them....

I need to measure the 3 that I have and make sure they are the same and then go find 2 more....

I wish I knew somebody that worked at a tire shop....I am afraid this is going to be something where I need to see the tires on the truck to make up my mind....

I fully expected the wheels and tires to be the last thing I did to it, but the thing that is causing me to have to make a decision is that the tires that are currently on it are 20 years old...and the sidewalls have cracks...and I need to drive it...but I can't buy tires for it till I know which set of rims to have sandblasted and painted...

I may even get a set of dog dish caps as well and change it up every now and then...so I need to get a look at what the full caps look like on 8" wheels...vs on the 6" wheels.

The BF Goodrich Mud Terrain KM2 has caught my eye too...nice tires....

When I can afford to do it, I think I will put the 31" Mud Terrain KM2's on the 8" rims, and then put maybe a slimmer tire on the 6" rims and that way when I feel like pretending I am Chief Brody I run the 6" and when I want to beef it up I put on the 8"...:eek1:

Where is $$$$ coming from?

you need to know backspacing for the offset...... I'm guessing thats what ya want...

take a flat ruler from the backside edge to the other edge, then measure down to the back of the mounting surface... subtract that number from the centerline dimension for offset...

here ya go.... :D

A 16" tri square fits very nicely on the inner part of a 15" rim, right inside the edges of the rim.

1974 seats

I am looking for seat upholstry like in the Jaws Blazer...it's odd that the only ones I can find that look similar are the 1972 seat covers...

Also saw something I never saw before...look at the bed rail...it has a metal "lip" that comes up and over it, like it is part of the bed side coverings...interesting...anybody ever seen these before? Was that a deluxe option?

My '72 had those trim pieces. It was a stainless strip that covered the inside of the fiberglass lip on the hardtop. Basically, you install the top, then add the trim strip, then insert all the bedrail bolts. It's just a cosmetic thing...

They are pretty easy to find on the 1st Gens, I suspect they won't take long to find for yours either.

that's the exact upholstry style and interior color of my K5. :) Lemme know if you need more pics.

agreed. that's what they are. Here's how that probably happened, the Blazer was delivered to the set, the top was removed and they said:

"what do we do with these trim pieces? Do they go back on the bedrail?"

"I dunno."

"Ok we'll just bolt them back on, screw it."

Hey, if your interior is the same color I would like to know for sure what color that is...I have been guessing at "saddle" but I have no way to know...you may have the codes on the sticker...

Does everything match? Seats, carpet dash...or all they all different shades of similar color?

saddle is correct. i'm not near the truck right now but everything matches as far as I can think of at the moment.

here's a pic, you can kind of see the aluminum trim piece that goes along the mounting channel of the top:

That's awesome...

You have the exact Brody Blazer interior...even the side panels...

How in the world am I ever going to get some of those...or even the metal strips?

Is that all original, that's unbelievable!!!!
