The Original Jaws Blazer Build

Ground problem solved at long last....issue with the fuse block. I removed it and cleaned it up real good, all the contacts...
So far so good...temp gauge works, fuel gauge works and dash lights work and the headlight switch no longer screws the gauges up.

Finally I can turn my attention to the transmission...and also sanding the bed and floorboard and prepping to paint those areas interior that will be covered by carpet.

Also not sure whether to replace the felt and seals and channels in the tailgate and doors before I paint or after.

Ditto on the after paint install of the felt and seals, masking them off to look good is a tedious job, but can be done. Just seems like taking as much off as possible gives the cleanest results in the end.

Glad you found your electrical problem....:waytogo:

You'll see the Blazer in the 2nd scene at Brody's house....then after he types the report at the police station look behind him and over the picket fence as he walks out of the police station and onto main street.

Then you see it real good as the deputy drives it up to the hardware store where Brody has just bought the sign making stuff..

Then when he goes to get on the ferry to save the boy scouts in April Bay, you'll see the front clip of the Blazer poking out from the building behind him....

I'm surprised that you don't know the exact frames it appeared... :flipoff7: :D

Well...it would be way more than one...seeing as how 35mm film ran at about 24 frames per second...Jaws used the Eastman Kodak 5254 film...it had a warmer tone than the 5247 that replaced it later on in 1975.

Updating thread, I am currently working on the bed rails, removing rust and trying to do filler...what started out as "i'm going to sand and paint the interior" turned into a "Oh no! there is rust under that paint" and thus the great adventure began to stripping the rail and removing the rust.

All that is in the "Rust Bullet" thread:

Is that "Light Saddle", "Dark Saddle" or just "Saddle"....

Today's work...I complete a panel...altough I can see from Craigs photos that I am missing a chrome piece around the door handle...mine aren't in as good shape but they will have to do until the aftermarket finally makes these....

Looks awesome! What did it look like before? Just blue I would assume?

Yes...It was a chalky blue....I keep forgetting to do "before" pictures....but I still have the passenger side to do.
I really do wish LMC would reproduce these...

So did repainting it get rid of the chalkiness near the top? The ones on my 83 are decent shape but have that chalky portion at the top.

Yes it did! The vinyl portion really looks new, after scuffing with a red 3M pad and spraying with SEM ColorCoat.
First I washed them with Simple Green, then used some Grease and Wax Remover, then scuffed with the red 3M pad, then painted them.

The "wood" panel was a little more tricky and it still has blemishes...I used a red scuff pad on it also and then polished with plastic polish...I also taped off the chrome strips and repainted the black area, but it still had some rough areas at the top center....right where your arm rests if you hang it out the window...the only thing I can figure is that in that area the sweat and oil must have went really deep....

The panel looks super great in the photo, but in harsh sunlight you can see the imperfections...I would love to have new but when you can't get it...you can't get it...I feel lucky to have the original panels that I have and that they were in decent condition.
