The Original Jaws Blazer Build

Door panels look good.

For the record, imperfections aside, you are better off with repainted originals than aftermarket reproductions.

edit: also for the record, I DVR'd Jaws last month when I had some free movie stations and just watched it again yesterday. Still one of the best movies ever made.

:waytogo: It's too bad that the sequels give it a bad name, but the first one truly is my favorite movie...great character development...it would have been a great movie even you never saw the shark...I love the Martin Brody character...always thought of him as a father figure...love that Blazer.

dad just bought a 76 gmc high sierra that has the same door panels as you, and it doesnt have chrome trim around the door handle, instead its a silver, kinda dull aluminum cover and seems to be rubbery like a wind seal.

Your gray rubbery seal was chrome at one time, all the chrome has just chipped off is all. I have chrome trim around my door handles and have had to re-glue them in sections and the piece is definitely a rubbery-type material.

I need two of them...mine are completely gone and you can see light through the seam that its supposed to cover

More truck door panels of this style are missing that piece. It's simply glued on and the glue wears out over the years. In order to get one you either have to make on yourself or find someone who has one.

Craig,

Would you mind showing me a pic of the very front of your interior bed side panels...from top to bottom where they are colsest to the doors...

Painted the seatbelt buckles today...used the same method to paint as I did the door panels...not perfect but pretty good to the naked eye...the camera actually catches and enhances more flaws...they actually look better in person:

Had a terrible time with the console lid...it is worn smooth in places and bad spots in others. I ended up painting it, stripping it, painting it, stripping it and finally a third time...it's in bad shape and this is the best I can do with it...it is uneven though...

I wonder if a wrinkle finish paint as a base coat might make it more even? Might be worth a try on a part that you have two of or isn't part of the truck at all?

Seat belt buckles look great, console lid looks better than 90% to me too...

Or maybe you could find some filler primer as a base on the smooth part, several coats and some sanding may fill in the rough areas.

If you read the thread he wants to bring it back to stock. Lots of things wrong with it though. Looks like a 74 yellow.
