The Original Jaws Blazer Build

Bump

Saw the movie tonight and thought about ya. :ears:

Chief Brody, Could you share some of the story behind how you found what the exact Color of the original Brody Blazer was, I see in one of your posts SUNSET GOLD was mentioned, yet to me in shots from the movie the color seems more Yellowish....I appreciate your help as I am persuing a replica Brody Blazer also... TY! Frank

It was just by simple deduction. Carl Gottlieb confirmed that the vehicle used in the movie was procured from the local chevy dealer, it was stock so the colors to choose from were the actual paint chip sheets from that year. The only colors available that were even remotely close were 511 Spanish Gold and 527 Sunset Gold. I've seen Spanish Gold and I can tell you without a doubt that ISN'T it. I've seen the movie hundreds of time, I have frame by frame watched every scene with the movie Blazer in it. It is very clear to me, even with the lights and sunlight changing the shade in various places that it is 527 Sunset Gold.
Mine looks different in different lighting, but it is spot on. In the movie it looks anywhere from beige to butterscotch to yellow, but never the greenish Spanish Gold. Mine does the same. In the garage it looks yellow. In the sun it looks butterscotch beige-like. I have no doubt.

Good morning, Thank you for your insightful response. I live on Long Island, and there's a guy here who has a Brody Blazer, and he swears the right color is "OCHRE" , I don't know if I spelled it correctly, but that color does not show up on the 73,74 or 75 Blazer Brochures. What you have said about how the sun causes the color to appear Yellowish must be true because in the movie, using a Blu-Ray, The color almost appears like a Desert Sand, more yellow than gold. Also does the Movie version Blazer have a Saddle interior?

Got yer back Chief. I firmly believe you nailed the research and have the correct color and interior and every other single detail nailed. I have seen other "Jaws" Blazers, none as 'correct' and true to the movie as yours is. They could remake the movie today and use your Blazer and it would be the most correct part of the remake IMO.

A truly iconic restoration/tribute build!
