The Purple Camaro

When I was in high school and college I used to take paint thinner and remove the white Hoosier lettering so it was less obvious I had sticky tires.

You should definitely hook with those. :waytogo:

Did you have fun? That's most important!

Look at it this way, you have room to go faster! :waytogo:

Had fun. Lights were good. All the expensive cars with turbos we’re trying to figure out how slomaro was whipping their ass for the first chunk of the track. Apparently that’s new for them
Once I find the issue, it’ll be more fun for me :haha:

Plan is some more shop time for the sloMaro. It got shuffled to the back row. I’ll pull the driver side header, collector, and the pipe back to the muffler first

Here’s the issues with the exhaust:
Headers are the competition Hookers built to the chassis by Mike Lupfer, long time Denver chassis guru. They fit awesome, even left us room to add a man pedal

But they are made for a Gen1 SBC
Crate engine is a zz5, vortec pattern
Reversion here
I knew this when I dropped the engine in. We didn’t want to dump the headers.
Still dont

Plan will be to carefully modify them to push them up without ruining the jet coating

2nd problem. Looks like exhaust dude slipped the 3” pipe into the collector, not flush. Reversion here

Next problem is the muffler. It’s 2.5”
But the exhaust dude just welded the larger pipe to the case over the inlet.
Reversion here
2.5” outlet

Once these are resolved, I’ll look to set it up to swap to a different dizzy at the track. So I’ll make wires and such, everything ready to quick swap. Make a few passes, change and test

Still convinced it can get to the low side of 13s

All of this work will be done prior to the 4 speed. I want all of the bugs worked out on a known consistent platform, before I make a major change

Getting rid of restrictions in the exhaust is definitely a good step, I look forward to seeing the results. I had dual 2.5 on my SBC regal back in the day, uncorking the header to the 3" collector would pick up over 2 tenths every time.

Was not. That’s the z28 gasket. It fits the head
