The RedBurb

Every Part Is Replaceable
All the discarded pieces are cut off, and the tubes are cleaned. The rack is ready for rebuild. Tomorrow the bumper gets cleared of all the brackets.

V2.0 here we come.

What do you do when you need a length of 1.5” tube longer than the scrap pile is offering and don’t want to spend any money to buy more tube?

I confess I already have two full lengths of 2” tube on the shelf that are reserved for use as the future front bull bar. Not wanting to waste money or steel, it just made plain sense to scavenge this long length of 1.5” from the V1.0 bull bar and go ahead and build the V2.0 while I’m in the revising mood.

I did similar salvage when I was building my bed and redoing the crossmembers.

Others here turned me on to the Benchmark extra thick flap discs, and they seem to be working well.

In my experience, skip the Harbor Freight flappies...

Well worth the $ to grab some that cost a little more...

The ones from Lowe’s do me pretty good usually but I am blasting through them this time around.

I’m doing a lot of grinding though.

I got some of the better ones from home depot and I am getting a set on sale from harbor freight and see for the money if they are worth it.

Finished cleaning up the front bumper during lunch, and it’s stowed away waiting it’s turn. Next is to clean off the old brackets from the rear bumper, then I can start building back.

Though I’m not sure how much I’ll be able to do on the tire rack. Tires aren’t due to arrive now until Monday (thanks Fedex), but I can make some headway. And my trailer needs a full rewire before I can use it to pick up the tires.

Full steam ahead.

Rear bumper is done and ready for the next phase.

I had spaghetti for dinner last night which is appropriate because my arms are spaghetti after all that cutting and grinding.

Oh, and just like that, the burb is back in hovercraft mode after a week of being a mall crawler. Guy popped up and offered me what I wanted for the 20s and bald tires.

Monday cannot get here fast enough. Let’s go FedEx lets go!

Haha, you're going to need more room....

Good chance you'll need more clearance here.

Especially if your axle isn't already moved forward.

I noticed my inner fender has done more self clearancing; I'll grab some pictures later that will hopefully help @AugustDiesel
I remember also that on these squares, anything more than a 38" will lose some turning range because the tire will hit the frame before full lock.
That's why I am sticking with 37" and just relying on more careful driving and better approach

No doubt I don’t mind doing more trimming. This was just a first draft. I’ll know more on where to trim once tires are on, and of course, ideas are always welcome.
