The RedBurb

Every Part Is Replaceable
Well, for a plethora of reasons, the Texas trip is canceled. All in God’s hands and timing though. Just have to be patient. Plenty of work to keep me busy in the interim.

In the meantime, I picked up some junkyard 64s this past weekend. Going to be ordering some cheap factory 52s to use in the front for a while, just to scratch the itch of running front 52s.

That red/gold gmt400 was mighty clean. I halfway thought about snagging the cab.

Also got started on cutting off the river heads on the rear suspension brackets.

It was no easy task, but I finished removing the springs hangers. My new favorite method to removing frame rivets is:

1. Center punch
2. Pilot hole
3. Drill the head out with a step bit.
4. Cut the head off with an air chisel.
5. Drive the rest of the rivet out with a driver tool and a 4lb mallet.

It’s a chore, but was the most effective way I found to get them out.

Also, with a little notching of the lower slider tube, the main eye hanger easily finds its new home several inches forward. Almost looks like @AgDieseler designed his sliders to nestle right in the middle of the hanger.

I’ll eventually pull the sliders off and pretty up the notches.

Main eye hangers are rehung, eight inches forward. Also got around to painting some fancy ORD parts. These will get installed later this week then I’ll hang the 64s I picked up from the yard. I really dig this DTM POR-15 paint. Same stuff I used on my transmission crossmember.
