The RedBurb

Every Part Is Replaceable
I know it had to be a process to find and get a rust free body but man the hours you saved toiling away on patching rust is huge.

You can get right back into the build. That’s awesome. Congrats on the score!

Congrats, the first time I cracked loose all the body mount bolts on my TX truck in 2003 I knew I never wanted to work on another rusty vehicle again.

You made the right decision, now enjoy building it!

You're gonna get spoiled working on something that rust free.

I’m hoping it will be just as enjoyable as working on my wife’s truck.

That's what I was thinking. He won't know what to do without rust repair projects.

I’ll have plenty to do even without rust repair projects :D

Coffee fuels the build.

Great seeing you and Mel the other day man, and congratulations on scoring a great truck. You're going to have a blast making it just how you want, and getting to involve your boys in the process.

Always great to see you bud. I’m very much looking forward to this next chapter. The work so far had already been a joy.

It’s like hitting the easy button. Was definitely a process, but saved so much time and money.

It’s going to be a down right party over here!

This feels like cheating. Seriously, how is this even fair?

I pulled the busted glass yesterday. All the window frames are flawless. Pulled the trim off the roof today, nothing but easily-fixable surface rust.

Even the tilt steering column seems to be in really great shape, so I’ll be leaving it in there, maybe save the fixed column as a back up.

Maybe not that steering wheel though ….

Nice clean donor there, the walk around on your IG video is good. I was a little worried when you really started whittling away on the old body but I see now you had good reason to.

That steering wheel is a nice shade of pink, it's a keeper.

I’ll be honest, cutting it up before I had a donor was risky business, and I for sure thought I had lost my mind.

Keep it for the wife, they said. She’ll love it, they said.

Pulled the rear bumper and trailer hitch off this afternoon. Those are for sale!

The fuel tank is next.

Also, @KirsL pointed out that the “817” scribbled on the firewall is the build number from the factory, and the fact that it is still there shows us that this truck has been well cared for over its 34 years of life.

How cool is that?? :saweet:

Also cool, those are the same three digits (slightly rearranged) that were on the fenders I used to rebuild the front end of the truck after the wreck. :yikes:

Matching numbers, means it was meant to be.
I gotta admit, I am bit jealous. A nice rust free body to work with. Can't wait until it's my turn, lol.

But I'm driving mine, so it evens out.

I like how your mountain decal nests in with the Custom Deluxe badge.

Yeah, that worked out really well.

I’ll be replacing the fenders. I cut more out of them than I liked to make room for the forties. Would like to start with a fresh set and remove as little sheet metal as possible.

But I’ll be reusing the badges and probably use some of the decals too.
