The RedBurb

Every Part Is Replaceable
Measure the diameter of the valve cover hole, the CDR pipe, and the pipe bulge that holds the CDR in place. Or measure your old grommet if it's still around.

You're mixing and matching two different styles of CDR, but I would have thought the pieces are compatible.

I am still striking out with this. Took the old grommet to the largest NAPA store in Jacksonville, they measured the inside and outside diameters, inside is 1 inch, outside is 1.25”, and they found nothing, not even anything close to it. Going to get on the computer and try to track down something online, but as it stands now, this is a very difficult part to locate.

Correction. I may have actually struck gold. Turns out Summit Racing has several that match those diameters. I ordered a handful to give myself some options on best fitment. Will post up results later this week.

Clearanced the transmission dipstick. Hasn’t been a major issue, just one of those little nuisances that keeps me awake at night ....

Cool.

I used to have that interference, too. I got rid of it in a slightly more dramatic fashion involving an entire drivetrain replacement. Your way looks easier... ;)

One of the easier things I’ve done on the truck. Much easier than wrestling my power steering pump into place ... 4 times. But it’s in. Tomorrow may get to see the hydroboost going in. We will see.

Was debating on whether or not to post this or to wait until after the deed was already done, but I figure, why not ...

Now that I have doors and front fenders to replace my krusties, and the remaining body work will soon follow, here is a teaser of the new color I’ll be going with:

The green is obvious in the sun, then looks more grey in the shade:

The blue is nice, but a bit too bright in the sun, and, is not that durable. Already chipping in some places. So I figured since most of the sheet metal that HAS blue on it is being replaced, now is the time to change it up. You may ask, “why did you even bother painting it if you’re about to do so much body work?” And the answer is: because I wasn’t expecting to do the body work this soon. But, opportunity strikes at unexpected moments, so there you go. And, for what this truck is and the direction in which it is going, I prefer as flat of a sheen as possible.

Edit: no I’m not putting the front bumper back on. Just using it as my test subject.

And I think I’ve resolved my grommet issue. Summit order arrived and it looks like I found one that will fit. By itself, it’s a bit loose in the valve cover, but with the PCV installed it’s a nice snug fit. I think it’ll work out fine.

Part number SUM-G3429 in case anyone else is having this same issue.

So, working on installing the new hydro booster, Anyone else care to comment on the difficulty of accessing these two bolts thanks to these two brackets holding up these thingamajiggers??? Something tells me they’re not going back in the same way they came out...

My comment? It's a whole lot easier removing the pedal bracket when the cab is upside down. Put your truck on its roof and you'll find the easy way to do this stuff... ;)

:haha:
