The RedBurb

Every Part Is Replaceable
Your a/c compressor seems to be bouncing real bad. Did you have problems with the bracket breaking?

I’ll have to look again, yes the bracket has broken twice. I welded it back together but it’s such a small surface area I wouldn’t be surprised if the welds didn’t hold. @campfire ’s is being delivered today.

Almost like there is a bracket missing or something :dunno: Never seen one bounce that bad before. Possibly why it is breaking that one.

I would not be surprised. This has been THAT kind of truck. Only brackets I know of are the upper one and the lower one, which I did confirm is present. I will make sure it’s good and tight.

First try tightening the bolts. Bring in the drastic measures later.

Phew!

You had me sweating bullets there.

I’ll try tightening the bolts, and if that doesn’t make a difference then I will “Right Stuff” the crap out of that pan.

Because that’s all I got.

If I do have to go that route, I suppose I can reuse the engine oil since it is still fresh?

Yessir it does. And I identified the problem

The bracket is there, but the bolt attaching it is missing. Going to see what I’ve got that will work and bolt it back up.

Also tightened the oil pan bolts. Once I get this bracket reattached I’ll fire it back up and see what happens.

I bet the pan gasket is fine.
The main seal is probably leaking

Pretty certain it was the oil pan. I tightened down the bolts and I *think* the front is not leaking anymore, need to get it up to temp to see what happens. The rear is definitely the oil pan half moon gasket, I can see it clear as day. I’ve tightened those bolts as much as I can and it still leaks but at least has slowed down.

So my next question is this: if that’s all it is, how imperative is it that it gets fixed right away? Is it feasible to leave it alone, make this road trip this weekend (leaving tomorrow), and then change the oil in 2000 miles and drop the pan to add silicone then?
