The videos and pictures never do the trails justice.
This is awesome Andy. Photos and stories of the day on the trail brought up just a few months later make the event all the better. I hit Melissa up to see if she had any from that trail that we have yet to post. She found a few. We’ll post here. The next day was Thursday, September 10th, 2020, and our first wheeling day. Well, an unofficial pre-wheeling day, and a dadgum great opportunity to test out the truck’s capabilities. Mind you, before this day, the truck had not been in four wheel drive with the new Offroad Design Magnum 205, with the exception of a quick shift test on my street, about 6 days and 2,000 miles prior.
The trail of the day was called Backward Bill and this was really more of a scouting mission to see if the trail was worthy of future BlazerBash events. To the powers that be, this one has my vote!
This was also my first time wheeling with a bunch of other like-minded squarebody folk. Got to meet a bunch of you guys, including @6872xtc @4door99 @fastazz81 (thanks for letting me borrow the tire deflater, btw!) @Capt Ron @Bent77 @ktmoutfront and many others (again, if we met and you’re not tagged here, post up!).
Needless to say, it was a very good day. The truck did awesome. Only had one issue with the tcase getting stuck in neutral, and that was only because I was still learning how to operate the magnum! Also had an issue over the next day or two with the transmission not wanting to shift into 4th/OD, but that worked itself out eventually.
I’ll post several pics of the day, but I’ll start with this video of the suburban’s first climb of the day and ever! For a first timer, it was intimidating, so I didn’t take any chances. I locked the magnum in double-low, and locked the Ox up front, tapped the skinny pedal slightly, and let the truck do the work and goat it’s way up the slab.
Love this video. Really, I feel like this video, and the miles driven to take this shot, demonstrates what the right parts and dedication can accomplish.
Here is a photo dump from the rest of the day. Anyone else that has photos of the day and wants to post up, you’re welcome to do so!

Short video Mark just sent me of another climb the truck did on Backward Bill. I am really happy with how well the truck performed.

Did that gnome take pictures?
Nope. That was the spotting gnome. He is really good at telling everyone where to put it.
Too bad. Pictures like this had raised my hopes.
