It’s really exciting (to me) to see the frame so close to being ready for build back.
Here’s what’s left:
This guy is coming off …
I really like this brake line bracket, so it’s staying, but I’ll probably yank the rivets and make it a bolt on piece …
These bump stop brackets are gonna go, but not before I hang the junkyard 64s and make sure the rear axle will still be centered where it was from the factory….
This crossmember is saying good bye. In its place will be a subframe that grabs both flanges right at the main eye hangers just like factory, as well as, strengthen the frame from the tcase crossmember to the fuel tank…
And perhaps y’all have noticed these two 10’ lengths of 1/4” x 6” stock. I’ve had these for a couple of years with the intention of building a desk, but, that ship has sailed, so I’ll be using this to partially box the frame in key areas…
And these two main eye hangers are shipping out for some special treatment …
Beyond all that, I’ll be welding the remaining riveted crossmembers to the rails where they overlap, and I’ll be measuring for some rear Dueling overlay plates to match the fronts that I already have.
I also have plans for a fuel tank skid/cage that will double as a rear subframe and tie into the rear ORD shackle hangers.
And the front, even though it’s totally unnecessary, but I can’t shake the idea, is looking at possibly getting a combo shock hoop/engine cage kind of thing. Buts that’s a bit down the road.
LOTS of work ahead. Let’s get to it.
