The restoration/modification of Daisy.

And for my .02 I would attach them to the body near the rocker, it will help with the support.

But then I would be welding it on not bolting

Im pretty sure pma4x4 learned that, while that does add strength, it transmits too much noise into the body.

do you think i should weld them on?

ive though about that, i dont know how much vibration/noise PMA4X4 considers to be too much. i've already got poly bushings mounting the engine and trans, i wonder how much difference it would make. as mentioned before, they're gonna ride really close to the pinch weld. if they hit and i notice it doing any damage or making any noise i'll have to figure that out, probably just notch the pinchweld a little

Are you planning on taking them off?

What are you putting in the inside to help support the frame ?

If the answer to both of those is no and nothing I would weld them. I would also plate the out side to weld it to, although your bolt mounts are pretty big. So they would work.

The flat part of the frame on Chevy's are rather flexible so that is why I said attach them to the rocker panel.

i never thought of it that way, guess its a good thing you brought it up before i started drilling. backing plates on the inside would certainly be do able, i've got enough 3/16 and 1/4 plate left. i don't necessarily plan on removing them but i guess it might be nice to have the option. might have to do some research before i move forward on these.

Sliders are bolted on! My wife and I spent the morning under my suburban drilling holes. They look and feel great on there. I'm gonna take them off to paint them and notch the pinch welds a little to keep everything from rubbing. The truck feels more solid with them on there, I like it. I know pma4x4 said having the sliders tied into the body and frame caused too much vibration/noise for his liking. But I've already got poly bushings mounting my drivetrain so I get a fair amount vibration already, I don't mind it. So I might fab up some body mounts off the slider legs and use actual body mount bushings between the floor and the sliders. We'll see.

Yes I'm missing some bolts. I didn't steal enough from work.

Nice work

I love it when the wife helps in the garage.
Usually when I let her drive a little bit she gets interested in what the next upgrade will be.

I was staring at the 2nd to last pic trying to imagine a frame rail web stiffener that you can make that connects the bolts from the rock slider to the crossmember using fancy triangles and pretty tabs.

Several versions of that have gone through my head already. Haha!

Gonna spray the the same grey color I've done all the aftermarket parts with.

Daisy went back up to southern Utah to get some Xmas trees. I didn't get to play around much, I was the only modified truck on the trip so no one else wanted to get stuck.
