The restoration/modification of Daisy.

Wow I havent seen this burb in a while. I sure wish I left my burb the way it was in 2005 :doah:
good luck on your rebuild try not to go overboard with the mods :burb: :waytogo:

I'm gonna try not to. Im going to lower it two inches, beef up the drivetrain and add some basic armor. I definitely want a Dana 60 after pulling the diff covers today. The front diff apparently got water in it at some point and it's screwed now. It makes a nice crunching sound when you roll the diff over. Looks like I'm in the market for a 60.

Oh no that sucks. Well you wanted to upgrade anyway but sadly this just moves up the time line.

yep, i think i'll just repack the wheel bearings and get it rolling in 2wd til i can afford a 60.. unless i find something to sell for the cash to buy one.

hmm, anyone wanna buy a camera?

Truthfully, if you are planning to upgrade.....change the fluid out, and run it.

You probably aren't in 4wd much, and when you are....it'll either blow up, or grind through some of the rust and be sorta alright for a while.

What do you have to lose?

Some fluid and maybe a gasket or rtv lol.

its not even geared the same as the rear axle. its 3.73, the rear is 4.10, i took the front driveshaft out when i installed the rear axle, back in 2003.

Oh right. Well, then you won't be too much worse off then you were before.
:D

Just get different size tires. 33's in the front, 40's in the rear. :haha:

my big box of door seals from classic parts showed up friday, we had a big (95 people) BBQ at my parent's house yesterday so the weekend was shot with that. i finally got around to replacing door seals today, i got the rear doors and the drivers door done. they're good quality, exact replicas of the original GM parts, i was fairly impressed. they are however, pretty stiff. i imagine any brand new door seal is and it will take time for them to flatten out a bit and let the doors close easier. i managed to only break one interior panel, the A-pillar cover where it goes forward to the windshield on the bottom. i super glued it back on once everything was installed, we'll see tomorrow if it held, i'll try to get the other three doors done tomorrow.

then, window seals, oh joy...

i got the back drivers side door all done and tore apart the pass side. went ahead and pulled the dash pad to make the a-pillars easier, since i broke the drivers side one. that thing is pretty much ****ed but a new one isnt happening, thats too much money that could go towards getting it running. and ive got a nice dash cover for it in the mean time.

the door seals from classic parts are really nice.

Easier to change 'em now than do it later. plus their cheap

Im with you. Hate interior work with a passion, stayed as far away as I could when I worked in the dealership. Might as well do the speakers now, for the price of them its really not worth doing them later and pulling that dash pad again.

Yeah I'm gonna order some tonight.

I'm trying to fix the a-pillar panel that I broke, CA glue from my RC cars didn't do it so now I'm using shoe goo. That **** fixes everything, hopefully.

I like the seals Scott, they fit pretty good eh?

They fit great. Every one has had 1-6" of extra length which is nice. The back side doors close perfectly with the new seals. The front doors need a little bit of force but they'll break in over time. The back door seals were pretty stiff too but 4 days later they work great.

My wife is up in MN visiting family right now so I texted her and said "I wanna be upfront and honest with you, I'm having lunch with an old girlfriend today." she called me and seemed a little concerned but not mad yet. So I told her "yeah we first met when I was like 13yrs old, we were good friends for a long time and dated for a while but that was years ago, we're just getting some pizza, it's no big deal.". My wife is not the jealous type so she let it slide but I could tell she was kinda worried about it. So then I sent her this photo, LOL!!!!
