The restoration/modification of Daisy.

Here is a pic of one. Apparently Google doesn't have any factory installed pics!

So, just to clarify, that isn't a double din. Its a weird GM that is almost 1.5din.

Don't think it was really a "speciality" thing, just something they did in the last few years of the body style. Thinking probably 88-91.

That being said, i think you are right. No one makes custom dashes for it.

Project is looking great!

Wait, do you seriously not know that these trucks were offered with something other than know stereos?! I wanna say they started in 87?

Ya seriously had no idea. :doah:

The radio you pictured is the exact stereo that was in the old family Celebrity Euro Station wagon, it was a late 80s model so I guess it makes sense. Takes me back...

I don't remember it being that ugly though... :doah:

Well there you go. And dbcomp is right. It's a din and a half. There are a few aftermarket din and a half stereos out there. And that is an ugly ass car!

Great work man! :waytogo:

I would just do a filler piece for the stereo area.I think you can come up with something quick and easy that will look pretty decent.

That's most likely what I'll do. Just make it blend in a little better.

Thanks man and yeah it's a later model thing, not near as common as the earlier ones.

I highly bet your right! I wish i were a rich man. I would send you money to get a maaco paint job on it!

Hell I wish I were a rich man too! Hopefully before the end of the year she will have new paint. all I really care about right now is working all the bugs out and getting her all primered.

It's 1989-'91 for the 1.5 din radios. Same as the new grille, steering wheel, NP241, body trim, etc. 1988 is still just a knob radio. They are pretty much an exact holdover of 1987.

The restoration/modification of Daisy... [5/25, test fire, She's ALIVE!]

yeah she drove home, it felt amazing to drive her finally! thanks for stealing the pic from Facebook, pblaze! the drivelines looks awesome, 1350 from nose to tail, front CV, non CV rear. the front clears the crossmember just fine, i doubt it'll ever hit. they told me that on the rack with the axles drooped out it still clears.

i knew there would be bugs to work out, and she drove 3mi before two of them made themselves known. the trans is in limp mode, 2nd and reverse only. the trans fluid sensor is bad, $25 part, should be no big deal.

the pass front hub also has an issue, we didn't machine enough off the new wheel mount surface and the wheel doesn't sit flat against the hub. i can probably get in there with a grinder to make it sit flush. the other problem is that we didn't take the body of the hub down enough and my H2 wheels don't even fit over them. :doah: so i'm on the lookout for a set of SRW hubs. if anyone knows of a set, let me know, otherwise i'll get new ones.

even with the problems that came up today, i'm not even mad! Dasiy drives!
