The restoration/modification of Daisy.

How stupid that the thing will go on either way! Hope that fixes it!

Yeah it is kind of odd, most connectors will only go in one way. Also, there is no mention in the instructions as to what side of the connector that arrow needs to be on. I'm sure this will clear up the limp mode issue. We'll find out tomorrow when I get some fuel.

Fun! At least, i assume thats whats going on with mine. Goes down the road fine but dives hard left when you hit the brakes.

Yeah probably a bad caliper. Back when I daily drove my suburban (2001ish) I had one lock up and it started smoking! Actually turned out to be a kinked brake line.

Interesting! I need to go through the whole front end on mine so i'll just include calipers in the mix. I think i'll do new brake lines too since im still running the long ones from when it was lifted. Anyway, i'll stop cluttering the thread!

Hell you're not cluttering anything, the suburban section in general needs more traffic.

I got some fuel this morning and took her for a spin, she didn't have enough in her to make it to the gas station. All 4 gears are fully functional!!

Congrats Muddysub!

I cant wait to get to that moment with my engine project!

thanks guys! i gotta tell you, its a proud moment, but nerve racking as well! every moment i'm thinking, did i route all the wiring harnesses away from the exhaust? what was that sound? it's running 10* hotter than i'm comfortable with. etc... i'm over thinking things i'm sure.

Awesome! That moment has been a long time in coming. :waytogo:

you're damn right it has! :woot::woot:

because i can't leave her alone, like a kid with a new toy, i just adjusted the drag link to center the steering wheel and re-torqued the lug nuts and u-bolts.

Doing things alot of people forget about until their wheels fly off.:haha::haha:

Saw the pics on FB. You even had a grin at the gas pump :D

The restoration/modification of Daisy... [trans issue fixed, SHE'S DRIVING!]

I've got about 60 miles on her now. Little bugs are starting to show themselves, last night I turned on the highbeams and the blue LED on my dash flickered on and off for a second and I smelled smoke. High beams are functional but the indicator light is not I'm guessing the LED just failed but I've got to pull the dash out of the truck to check.
My fans are drawing more amperage than planned. They're supposed to be 17A at start up and 9A once running, they just blew a pair of 20A fuses. I made an emergency stop at an o'reilley store and threw some 25 amp fuses in them but I'm going to have to figure out what's going on with those.
Also the tires kinda suck. I think sitting in the driveway for a couple years while I built the truck has permanently flat spotted them, the drivers front bounces constantly I can't really go over 50mph or so. I plan on buying tires within the next 3-4 weeks.

On a more positive note, the engine and transmission kick ass! I've got the TCU programmed pretty well now. During light throttle driving around town, it's very tame but when you punch the throttle it definitely shifts hard and let you know it's there. I haven't wired up the economy/performance mode or TCC lockup switches yet. When I pull the dash out to replace the LED and install a small filler panel I'll take care of those.

Overall I'm extremely happy to have m truck functional. It feels really good driving this thing after so long without it. Hopefully this coming weekend I'll get my shocks installed and it will be a little more bearable to drive.

Right there with you on all that! The little bugs, and the good feeling! Glad everything is mostly just fine! What tires are you getting?

I wanted 37" goodyear MT/Rs but I'll probably end up with 37" BFG A/Ts. Better price, road manners and i'll probably get more miles out of them. (both life span and fuel mileage)

Shocks are 14" bilsteins, from eye to eye at ride height is roughly 27", which gives me 6 inches of up travel and 8 inches of down travel out of my shock.

With the ****ty Pro-comp springs on there I won't be able to use all of that. I'm hoping that if I get some better springs someday I will be able to get more travel out of the front end. I also plan on putting in some 4" bump stops that will limit me to about 5" of up travel.
