The restoration/modification of Daisy.

Honestly, no. I haven't given it much thought. Sorry man.

ORD.

Daisy made it to overland expo just fine, we set up camp and climbed inside to hide from the wind. That should die off tonight but it's supposed to rain tomorrow, haha!

I lived in Mormon Lake for 22+ years, they didn't have the overland expo there till after I moved... The clump of trees visible between the front of your burb and the back of the camper we called "the island", when it was an island the Lake was full. Spring in northern Az = WIND!

Well, Overland Expo was awesome! It started raining Thursday night and didn't let up til Saturday night. It even snowed a little. All that precipitation gathered on the lake bed where everyone camps and made for some of the stickiest mud I've ever seen. The whole place was a swamp. Anyone without mud tires and lockers wasn't getting in or out. Daisy did fine, the General Grabbers did great, they clean out really well. I even pulled out a 4wd F350, dragged him all the way out of the camp ground. I didn't get to drive the off road course, they closed it when land rovers started sliding sideways down hill. There were a ton of cool rigs there that I tried to photograph when ever possible. We took some really great classes, including a winching class taught by camel trophy veterans.

Those Burbs are sweet but I would love to own that yellow Land Rover. I've always liked how those things looked but to own one that color and decked out like that would just be icing on the cake. :waytogo:

Sure looks like it. Down to the winch hidden in the factory bumper. And the blue burb looks like the one that shows up in his traveling posts. But that might just be a coincidence. :dunno:

I assure you that's Mosesburb. The blue Burb I'm not sure of....

I assure you that's Mosesburb. The blue Burb I'm not sure of....

That's what I thought. I have a hunch that there's not another truck even remotely like that anywhere in the world (even the visible exterior is unique, not counting all the modifications under the hood).

Awesome pictures, I hope to do this stuff with my truck when it's finished. How much wheeling did you guys get in?

The restoration/modification of Daisy…

yeah the orange one is mosesburb and the blue one is 1leglance. i wanted to go through a caption everything but forgot i even posted any pics in here from expo.

We didn't really do any wheeling there, there's so much to do/see there at the expo that i never left the property.

Yesterday, a couple friends and i got together and ran a local trail called Wheeler Pass. it starts in a tiny town about 40mi north of Las Vegas called Cold Creek. It winds back and forth up the mountain and tops out at the pass at 7600' before dropping down the west wide of the mountains and eventually leaving you in Pahrump, NV. From there its an hour drive back home, the whole trip was 8hrs by the time i was back in my driveway. The trail is a little tight in places, i brought home some shrubbery that came in through the windows and the pass side mirror got pushed in but no damage. I only had to skip one obstacle line as the trees were just too narrow, i would have broken some glass. None of it was very difficult, my friend tagged along in a 2wd 2013 silverado, he stuck to the road and didn't drive any optional obstacles. it was a good time and showed me a couple things that i need to work on, i'll get to that…

it's cool driving towards a mountain range thinking, "i'm gonna drive other that mountain today."

Alex, playing around with his FJC. that thing is really well set up, icon coil overs, skid plates, snorkel, lockers, etc… it crawls well and handles great at speed, he jumps it on a regular basis.

the forest opens up on the other side, lots of sage brush and fewer pines over there.

the last few miles of the trail is a wide, graded dirt road. we stopped in Pahrump to air up the tires and bull**** about 4x4s for a while and headed home from there.

there were a couple times i felt the front end bottom out, further inspection when i got home revealed that my front lower shock mounts do in fact need to move (see the location of the zip tie?) and that the exhaust needs to be re routed sooner than later. also my transmission cooler is getting replaced with one that doesn't leak.

The restoration/modification of Daisy…

I built some new lower shock mounts today. I've still got to plate the undersides, I'll try to get them welded on this weekend. They don't look like it but they put the center of the bolt 2" lower than the existing shock mounts.

Of course I had to test it, shocks are happy now. Fully drooped I've got one inch or so of shock left and fully compressed I've got an inch or two left. No worries...

Very nice. I like the design, and might steal that for my own.

The restoration/modification of Daisy…

i installed a new transmission cooler this week. it's a B&M 70297, 9x13.5" cooler with a 9.5" 600cfm fan, thermostatically controlled. i wired it up with a relay and 15a fuse, it kicks on at 180 and off somewhere around 165-170. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/bmm-70297

mounting was pretty easy, it take up a lot of space though. i used the mounting bars from my old trans cooler and trimmed the hood latch hook a little. it misses the back of the grille by 1/4" or so and the hood hook clears the cooler by 1/4" or so as well.

next to the old one

takes up a lot of space but actually fits really well. the most cooler you can possible cram in there, that's for true.

tested it with my thermapen, cooking thermometer. i left my laser temp gun at work and this is super accurate anyway.
