No, there was 20oz of oil in the catch can after 625 miles which is better than 10oz after 250, but also oil was coming out of the catch can vent. The bottom of my trailer is pretty well lubricated.
How much did you have to add to the engine?
Engine Amount - 20 oz = trailer rust proofing amount.
Hopefully that's the only problem you have the whole trip.

The dipstick on this pos comes in at a weird angle so it's hard to get a good reading. I put the 20oz plus another quart in.
Here's is my guess as to what happened. Last time I drove the rv it put 10oz in the can in 250 miles. That's about a quart in 800 miles. Yesterday we drove 630 miles and it only had 20oz in the tank. I think it filled up enough that when I climbed a hill it blocked one of the baffles and puked some oil out.
To prevent that from happening today we drained it when we filled it with fuel at about 400 miles from where we drained it before, but it only had 2oz in it. I am hoping that means that the rings were stuck and the stiction remover worked. I haven't checked it yet since we got here, but I'm hoping it's mostly dry.

It's about 200% humidity here in Missouri and we're hiding inside until it cools down a bit.
Unfortunately the coolant tank low sensor gave me tons of trouble today. It seems like the tank sloshes and the float gets stuck for 30 seconds before it pops loose. Sometimes it triggers limp mode, sometimes it doesn't. The fix is to just wait.

I was wondering how much the catch can holds before it just starts burning the oil again.
Can you just bypass the coolant tank low sensor with a wire or resistor if you know the level is good?
If there is a float maybe you can zip tie it up or something until you have a chance to fix it correctly.

The catch can is pretty big, but the baffles get to within a half inch of the bottom. The last baffle is open on the bottom at the back half of the tank which is why I was thinking that's what happened.
I can jumper the sensor connector and I will do that once we get to Michigan. I'm going to try to just add some fluid to raise the level and see if that helps for now. If it gets hot again (220ish), it will puke that back out the overflow, but it never got over 200 today and probably won't tomorrow either.

We've got the front wheels of the camper off the ground, now I just need to do that with the truck.
I had my freightliner act up all the time even after putting a new sensor in a few months later it did it again, so I just put a wire jumper in the plug.
I just checked it everyday to make sure the fluid level was good and my eye was always on the temperature.
Drove it like that for 6 years.
Yes, unfortunately the only way to replace the float is to replace the whole tank. Mine is a Freightliner too
On my old 2001 the sensor was replaceable.
In my 2012 I had to replace the whole tank
I can replace the sensor, but I don't think that's the problem based on the symptoms. Mine is right between yours, 2006
We did it maintenance last night before we went to bed. Unfortunately there was 8 oz of oil in the tank this time. The second half of yesterday was very hilly compared to the first half. It's really looking like I have a hurt piston, but I think it will finish the trip no problem.

I imagine a European family seeing you on the highway, and working all their gears of understanding to figure out, “why is a tow truck being towed by a bus. And why does the tow truck look like it’s going fast sitting still?”
10/10 level of “this is called a good time” here in The States.

We're stopped in Springfield for food and fuel. I'm taking a mid drive break today, it's rough. I haven't driven this far in 30 years.
A European family would look at us here towing a house behind a big truck and think we're crazy.
They tow a little tear drop trailer behind a Renault le car or a fiat 500.
It's crazy even with the small trailer they have.
Take your breaks, you are on a fun trip, enjoy it.
When I was driving long distance I had to for work, now I take my time and enjoy it.
Plus you have company, your wife.
It's also nice that I can get drinks and snacks delivered to my drivers seat and a bathroom break just means finding somewhere to pull over for a minute.
