'83 K5 6.2L Diesel 64" rear springs. 3/4 ton axles. rear discs. Boring but works!

Truth. And I expect that my days of boredly sitting at a computer are a temporary interruption to the flow of life. Life will eventually resume, I won't be on here forever. At least, I sure hope so! :haha:
I grew up in southern Wisconsin and always wanted to live in a cabin out in the woods up north but somehow ended up here.

I grew up in Eastern Iowa, and I also "always wanted to live in a cabin out in the woods up north." And that's why I'm up here. :D :thumb:

You could always move back if that's what you still want. But it looks like you have some pretty cool opportunities where you are. :)

Yeah I won't be moving back to the good ole WI my wife is from out here and I love the mtns and public land too much to ever leave. I guess some day I'll just have to get a cabin in the mtns out west somewhere. :saweet:

Started on my rear shock mounts this weekend. Cut holes in the floor for the shock mounts to come up through and mocked up my shock mounts. Just need to fab them up when I get a chance.

Planning on building a bump stop mount that will tie into the shock mount on the bottom and the lower flange of the frame rail and then a cross bar to tie the two shock mounts together for support. I will also box in the upper mounts with some sheet metal to keep out dust and exhaust fumes. The lower mount will be a 3x3x3 raised pad on the outside of the spring perch to get the mount up high enough to clear the u-bolt plate.

Whats the purge valve for anyway?

The line behind the valve runs to the bottom of the tank. If you get large quantities of water in your tank, you can open that valve and use a vacuum pump to siphon the water out. You should also have a water collector/drain on your fuel filter. Probably you will never need either. The line to the tank is a reaction to a bunch of earlier 350 Olds Diesel engines that had injector pumps ruined by contaminated fuel (expensive warranty issue). Later on GM decided to drop the feature. I have yet to hear of anyone actually using it. Pretty sure you'd have to have a LOT of water in the tank to make it worthwhile.

There are several aspects of the 6.2 that are reacting to the failures of the 350 Olds engine. They learned a lot of expensive lessons. Thankfully they seem to have gotten things right with the 6.2 engines. :thumb:
