Not too thrilled with the brown/tan combo anymore. I've been walking past the Duplicolor Paint Shop section at Autozone and walking away with ideas. This can be a bad thing, so I thought, lets ask the brotherhood. Where else can I get such great opinions about my truck.

My first idea was to paint it Hugger Orange, but thought I would get sick of that after a month. So I scrapped that idea.

Next one was to paint the truck silver and do a 'hockey stick' style stripe down the side in black. This was inspired by the 'sport stripe' package offered in the 70s (anyone seen the pic of the black K10 with the white stripes?). This idea has kinda stuck for a while and I still like it, so I took a pic of someones elses K5 in a close color and hacked on some stripes for your viewing pleasure (or eye sore). So tell me what you think and be honest if you like it or hate it. Oh, and I must add, this truck is used on the trail and I'm not trying to make a show truck out of it, just a different color.

And thanx to whoever I stole the pic from, that's a nice lookin truck. :D

I like it! Just need an old school "350" badge just over the blinker to make it look right!!! Such as:

That just doesn't look good to me,tried something similar on my K5 and just never liked it. Stripes on the hood would be cool.
 
I thought about stripes on the hood, like the typical SS stripes from the muscle cars. My issue with those is that it's been done, almost to death. I'm looking for something different but not so much 'in your face'. Advice noted. Thanx!

Agreed on the SS hoodstripes, however I've contemplated a design like this might make in on mine someday:

There is a truck a few miles from my house with hockey sticks on it. It's blue with white stripes. It doesn't look bad, but I think they look a little thin. If done rights hockey sticks look good, same thing with the SS/Z28 style. Tricky parts is to keep them in proportion to the rest of the truck. If you want I can snap a picture next time I go by it.

That would be cool, just to see how it looks, what to do different, etc...
 
Id be interested in seeing that truck too. Mine is Blue and White and wouldnt mind doing something like this as well. :D
 
I like the hockey stripe, but would have it taper to a point at the far back end.

Not sure about the taper, but I don't want it to wrap around either. My thought was to end it before the quarter wraps around, maybe with an increasing number of vertical lines in the last 2' (kinda like an 80s design). My other thought was to end it with just enough room for a black CK5 sticker at the end.

I hadn't heard of a K5 Baldwin before???

I know they did Camaro, Nova, Corvair, Vette, Chevelle, but never heard of a truck.
 
I think he was making a joke about the stripe. That being said, the hockey stick stripe was a GM option, not a Baldwin Motion option. Baldwin painted the entire back of the car one color, and had stripes coming forward from that.

Ok I lied...it's not a true hockey stick, but it's close. It's probably close to what 82355 is thinking.

Err, I dont like that. Infact, I just seen a new Camaro running similar stripes, I didnt like it either.

I like the 496truck Photochopped better.
