The "under destruction builds" supersize75k5 's driveway of despair and repair

The 1.6L's a good engine, don't get me wrong. The 2.0L's just newer and bigger.

I've seen people swap engines just to get by for a while, but a 1.6L tracker engine usually was not involved. This thread is always entertaining. :pimp1:

Considering the old I-4 flathead made what, 40hp? Even the 1.3L Sami engine would have been an upgrade at 60hp.

I just keep talking myself into things. It is laughable that I yanked the last one out already and before this in is even in I'm looking for other options.

Eek.

Hopefully I'll just love it enough and enjoy it as is till I blow it up.

The only flat head was actually a little work horse with close to 90ft pounds. I'll take the modern fuel injection though!

So I've been pretty busy and scrambled as usual

Cliff notes ..

Invited to Co drive on a team for the baja 1000..took .0000009 seconds to respond with a yes. Basically new car, new team, no prerunning and 1st place. Was it the 1919 car for 400 miles.

We had some fun missing tools repairs and naturally since I was in it the clutch belt had to blow.

overall just amazing and I'll do a overview later.

All the projects got slammed on hold for baja so the chase trucks could get built and we could get there. Many long days from everyone.

willys .. had to order a header for frame clearance and the customer harness from trail tuff showed up. Time to make time.

buggy.. rebuilt strut from ORI showed up and I have a new trans case. Going to do the back door challenge this year at koh so tike to get it ready. Taking the willys to koh to drive around since the buggy is likely going on its lid :dunno: should be a fun week.

duramax.. still no SAS but maybe I will fish the 60 out of the back yard and start prepping after the other crap is done.

65, going to yank the original drive train and start the suspension and air ride up front next. Lots of parts showing up.

And ... found a tj for the gf. It's a Rubicon so outfitting it with tires, lights upgraded steering and all that jaz. Wheeling with ac is awesome.

So you were the co-driver of that RZR for 400 miles in the baja 1000? That's awesome!

Sad to see the buggy in that condition though.

All the projects and the later are fun at some point so it all seems worth it lol:thumb:

I'll be out there Sunday, 5 days before the race...so I expect it to be broke in half or burned to the ground well before you get there. Maybe we can stay warm by it if it's still smoldering though!

That there is why I've come to hate mud over the years. Better roll out the pressure washer. One of my friends says he sets one of the vertical fan rotating sprinklers spraying up under the truck and comes back a couple hours later.

Mud really isn't that bad, I've got a nice process.

Now for awesome news. Turns out I'm getting buddy's spot in the back door shoot out at koh!

I'm not likly to win the actual event, so I'm going for best in show.

:thumb::woot::popcorn:

If they do it at back door my current plan it to try to back flip the buggy on the right side.

The slim chance it works out it will be epic, worst case I get some killer pics :pimp:

Time to get Some stuff and changes done :weld::grind::hack:

Now I really need the willys to go as well so I have so I 4x4 to drive the other 5 days lol
