the nightly progress, i decided to move the angled support bar and removed alot of factory bracket crap.. alot cleaner now. took out the tow hooks and put a capped piece of tubing in its place, then welded the skid plate tubes to it. should be nice and beefy!

any thoughts if i should weld in a panel on the sides inbetween the tube? it would hide some of what is behind it??

im going to make a skid plate, drill some holes and finish weld it..then paint it today I hope.

It looks like a GREAT start and I really like the look of it, but IMHO it would look a lot better with plates welded in.

Nice work!

ill have to think about the stinger, the last stinger I had on a rig was so large I think I could have made 3 out of it:crazy: I did do light tabs to mount my hellas, currently welding it up and this welder i acting real odd, should make a nice piece of scrap if it turns out like crap:doah: i should have it painted and on soon.

I think it'd look better with the spaces in between the tubes on the sides filled with something. expanded mesh, maybe diamondplate... only way smooth would look good is if you can match the tube bends exactly.

lets see what the night brings..:D

I think its mainly the front that needs to be filled in. The sides would be hard to do but it would look good.

Yeah you need to fill them gaps in with somethin but that looks sweet shawn

hows this..

i think I will be filling the sides, just have to get out the sheet metal tools and some hard work to make it right.

as for the skid, do you guys think aluminum or paint the metal that is in place at the moment jet black?
i also thought it might be cool to get it aluminum and have my business logo water jetted into it..

the hella's I think i will swap out to round units instead of square.

as for the sides, i trimmed the wheel well plastic and crap, and I will do a slight trim on the fender support below the bolt that secures it though. the drivers side poses a problem with the windshild wiper bottle, I dont really use it ever..but it sounds kind of redneck to take it out, so i might try to raise it, or source a smaller unit from a gm car such as an aveo or something i dunno Ill just get creative.

Looks good, but that center plate DEFINATELY needs something to break it up. Just too much flat blank space. Water jetted company logo sounds cool, but I don't think aluminum suits that truck. Maybe water jet, paint it, then back it with something brightly colored to make the logo stand out. Get real fancy, back it with something colorful and translucent, and backlight it. Now we're getting into show stuff. We all know how you like the bling!

hmm, i agree on the aluminum,, I like the back lit logo idea:wink1: or I could just paint it dark black and put a nice sticker on ther..what if I split up the skid with some tube

kind of like.. l \ / l

i want to be cautious about putting too much tune on it, I also want to put a reciever hitch behind the skid plate, I have an old one to cut down:laugh:

I was thinking a tube longways across the middle lined up with the bottom of your Hellas? That logo idea sounds pretty cool!
