The "under destruction builds" supersize75k5 's driveway of despair and repair

I assume you had to crack open that tranny to change output shafts or modify it into a 4x4 tranny. I doubt they will touch it good luck though. Now if you buy a new truck from the dealer you chances are better. :D

noooooooooo

divorced 205;)

Thats how the tranny went out in our old '98 tahoe... no warning signs at all just all of a sudden it wouldn't do anything...
We were in the driveway and went to back out and it was gone...

Good luck but yeah I sort of doubt they'll be too excited about doing it under warranty after they get a look at the rest of the truck :)

So what was the outcome, Shawn?? Where do ya stand with the truck?

I believe he used a divorced transfer case on the back of his 2wd trans. So he didn't open up the trans.

plan was to toss the case in after I finished the buggy, so now the buggy is done and the white truck cant even move:haha:

seems the 4x4 gods are trying to spare it.

part of me leans towards lowering the truck and getting some 37-38 inch toyos with a good load range but a wider foot print, since im pretty set on getting a second work truck I could even lean towards some swampers :) one thing I will say is this truck, even as it sits is flat out amazing in the sand/whoops, the few times I tried to play jeep speed I had a blast and seemed to be set just right or close to it for the use. I also like having a really stong tire, and the xls are just that.

problem is where to I go from here..? I see myself keeping this truck, also thought about buying an extended cab shell and putting a short bed behind it. and staying on this frame, my only complaint is no cab space, but I like how the single can looks and its different.

1st on the list is making a tranny choice and regearing, the dana 60 has 4.56s in it but I think I want a 4.88 or even 5.13s

I vote drop it down over some 38" toyo's and use it as a daily driver/tow rig... then you'll have the buggy to use for anything the tow rig can't handle...

I know you're the kind of guy that won't ever stop and will always be changing vehicles and building something new but my vote is to get a "complete" setup and enjoy it for a while... '07 SAS'd 2500 on Toyo's to dd/tow, the buggy for rocks and something to use for work if the '07 is still too tall...

since the tranny is in and done its time to get this show on the road :)

ahhhhh got the shafts done, the front shaft "yet to get picked up" will match the rear and all are long slip:D later ill have all the flanges and yokes changed so they are matching.

this weekend should bring a cool divorced 205 mount if I can wrap my mind around it and get it done.. once thats done, next is all new exhaust and deeper gears front and rear.

AAAAAAAAA! Every time that I look at your thread here, I get bad thoughts toward my 2500HD!;):D You're a bad influence!:haha:Anyways, sweet build! I look forward to seeing that divorce mounted 205 in there!

well I finally got a some time to get the transfercase mount done..I am not sure if this one will stay in there or not but it helped me pass some time.

im going for a test drive to beat on it a bit and test it out..hope I make it back:crazy:

it surived my local test spot to "air out" my projects.. lands pretty damn smooth considering the front does not have bump stops yet..now thats going to be going on the list, if it did not fall out with the stupid stunt I just pulled im pretty sure the mount will do the job:D ill post a couple pics I took of it.

now I just need to get some gears done so they match, make a new tranny crossmember so the front shaft can go in, and get the exhaust re-routed and headers while im at it.. then its time for some sliders, the cage and racing seats.

couple thoughts, seems a linkage for this t-case will be fun, so looks like cable shifters will be in the near future since I like a place to rest my arm. Also my shifter cable for the tranny took a crap, the plastic broke so now it does not like going in park, I think I streached the cable and that caused it to fail, so if its more then a hundred bucks I am going to just get a art carr shifter like the buggy has and incorperate its mount into the cage and seat mounts. I love projects :)

when the exhaust is done I will add a 4th mount to the mount, right now the ehaust is right in the way..

Looks nice and stout...but I want to see pics of that big damn thing airbourne man, come on your killing us.

:D i need to grab a friend to go with me, problem is I am not willing to fo it durin the day "peoples parked cars everywhere"

now the trick is finding these mounts, poly is what I want but I dont think there will be an abundance of people making them if anyone. ill have to subsitute something for the bushings, but I dont know what.

Try using Jeep Wrangler transfer case strut arm bushings. They are about the same size. You should be able to get them from Advanced Adapters.

I found some daystar bushings at 4wheelers supply, 8 bushings for 30 bucks and they work like a dream, I was hoping to use rubber but the poly ones really made it ridgid now. I still have to add support the the pass side and a gusset as well, but its there. I want to do a lomax gear set, cable shifter and twin stick mod when can get to it,

now I need to clean it off since I finally have the old speedo hole sealed, and paint it all up so I can eat off it ..

Sweet looking set up. Just looking at it makes my back hurt lifting it in there. One note, on most divorce t-case set ups they have a bracket on the back of the t-case bolted to the rear of the front output bearing housing and a support rod running the frame. I don't know if you thought about doing that, but I have a bracket if you want it or I can send you a pic so you can model after it.
