The "under destruction builds" supersize75k5 's driveway of despair and repair

Ahhhhh the smell of progress:pimp:

Finally got my tires and wheels in my hands today, ended up getting 5 tires, runflats and wheels for 525.00:pimp:

Also ordered up my steering parts from Trevor at WFO Concepts, must be the 7th or so time I have used him for a cross over set up, great guy and prices:waytogo:

CIMG1346.jpg

Ordered a 2 inch forged steering arm and a pitman arm. He also let me in on some oddball info.. since my axle is not a high pinion he said Id have hell getting the caster right, and good pinion angle with out rotating the c's:doah: He then asked if it by chance came out of a van... sure did.. turns out people doing these conversions used chevy axles and retubed them as they were easier to find than the ford axles!

I have not tore the axle apart to see if he is correct but by the looks of where welds were on the c's I think he sure is.

I was also able to get a decent pinion angle and 5 degrees caster.. I am a happy camper:thumb:

Currently trying to decide what to do about my fuel line, dealer wants 190.00 for them:doah: If I cant find some that will leave me dealing with it while trying to do all the swapping rather than just clipping a factory one in.. could do steel braided, the factory plus a repair section from napa.. combination of both or bite the bullet.. if I get hosed during the swap by chance though it is 2-3 days to get the line here.. hmmm might have to just pay up:doah:

Got the rest of the brackets cut off, this weekend I hope to have the steering on and the welds done.

wild cards left are shocks, driveline and whether or not I will need a panhard bar.:dunno:

Hmmm trying out the new tires... 37's stock!

Just saw that pic on FB and didnt realiize that was your 06, having both headlights and a grille.:D either way, looks good.

How much lift are you shooting for when finished with the SAS?

I am right now just with a 1" block in the rear and the t bars cranked, I hope to only go up maybe 4 inches or so:dunno:

Long term goal would be air ride on the rear and maybe the front with a 60 so I guess I could deal with hight issues at some point:popcorn:

The rears are rubbing the leaf springs ever so slightly so im going back out right now to add the 2 inch spacers to the rear, looks bitching with the 1 side I have done and it makes it stick out the same as the front. I love the tucked in look!

I think I have a buyer for my 17's too fo damn near what the new tires and wheels cost me.. saweeeeeet!

for what its worth, my 07 nnbs 3/4 ton with leaves has a panhard setup on it, i havent drove without it on there but with it, it drives great and hasnt given me any problems yet.

its mounts at the frame under the driverside and runs down to the top of the passenger side spring plate. pretty solid.

Dude! That looks absolutely awesome!!!! :thumb:
37's look just right! I've always wondered what 37's would look like at pretty much sock height, looks perfect! That's what size a 2500HD should come with! Keep it low man! :pimp:

What spacers did you have to put on for those wheels to clear? (they look to be standard backspacing H1 rims, correct?)

EDIT: Looks like you are planing on 4" lift? Seems like that would be about perfect, 4" front, 2" rear (level it out) with 37s, that's exactly how I'd love to set up my 2500HD if I had the $ and skills to do it! SWEET! I'm gonna be watching this thread!!!

It will go up, I hope only a couple more inches though.

In his pic there is no wheel spacers, when I got home I put a pair of 2 inch spacers in the rear only. In the rear on one side one the overload had shifted a tad and was rubbing so I decided to avoid that issue.

It does rub, just got done chasing my dog through the alley but it is nothing I would call horrible or undriveable.

As for the panhard bar, my idea was kind of the same, just build a new top plate out of some 3/4 inch and place tabs on top. For the frame bracket I will probably one up from dan at ruffstuff and avoid the work.

Little progress on the little truck #1, axle location, tire size and hight are finally decided,

Plates are cut for to reinforce the front spring hangers where they will mount on the sub frame, and the hangers themselves are done. Ended up doing a bit of a drop hanger to help out with the stock rear sami springs we are using.

Also cleaned up the yard a bit to load all the scrap that has piled up around here on my trailer..little truck # 2 to the rescue

CIMG1352.jpg

On the 06 the hangers are welded, knuckle is machined, new ball joints and installed, frame is painted int he front and its on its own weight:D

This weekend the swap starts:D I am trying to decide if I want to rent a truck for a few days, drive the 07 on flat spot from hell 44's or buy a cheap truck to use then sell:dunno:

Had some fun trying to find how bad 37's run down a ruff road too.

CIMG1345.jpg

so that puts me at:

52" springs traded for 0.00
front spring rear brackets.. traded for 0.00
front hangers and perches from Diy4x ...70.00
front axle.. bought for 300 or so then sold, then bought back for 100.00, 200 profit lol
new rear springs, 4" lift 63's .... 50.00
32 spline 241 .....125.00
spacers, should end up with a just a few hundred in these.
(5) 37 " good year tires, bead locks and run flats for 525.00
Wfo 2" cross over steering arm, studs and pitman arm shipped for 218.00
Machine work for the knuckle was 50.00, then traded flanges to him..net cost is 10.00

Tomorrow I am going to go look at a wrecked 05 with 46k on it.. if the price is right I may use that 6.0 and 4x4 trans being mine has 190k. Hell if the cab is ok I might just use that too and sell my current 06..:dunno: What a mess I like to get myself into:1zhelp:

Picked up the temporary work truck today too:D

Little bit of humor... when I picked up my 241 t-case from Jason4x4... I was worried about getting m clothes dirty, as we went to get it out of the garage he said "Dont worry its clean" So Far I have 6.00 at the car was in quarters along with oven cleaner, degreaser and wire wheels.. damn thing still is not clean. JASON YOU SUCK DONKEY WEANER DUDE!

Looking forward to seeing this thing finished... is the utility bed going on at the same time?

Yes. I will need to build a tow hitch though or figure out what people do on these things, so hopefully I don't have to take it on and off to solve that issue:doah:
