The "under destruction builds" supersize75k5 's driveway of despair and repair

That's how mine will be. I sourced the factory shifter setup and the truck will look like it came that way.

Greatwhitez71 said that if i take out the 263 and pop in the 241 i should be able to use the same shaft. I looked up the lengths and there .500 within each other, so i might be good. Prob a 1350-1410 neapco joint and i should be able to adapt the 241 slip yoke to my shaft....for the time being anyway i hope. Mine is ext cab shortbed like yours was...lol. Thanks for the brakeline sizes and the 241 clocking, if i dont have to use a ring i wont, just one less thing to buy. Also seen where they used the floor shifter/linkage from the 261, from a truck your style and it worked perfect...even looks like it came there.

Do the studs from the 263 work in the 241..?

If yours is an hd the slip will slide right in, can't recall if you have a half ton though or not.

Ill have to see if I can find a 4x4 shifter for my year over adapting a earlier one:thumb:

Im in the air on the studs, some thing was up but I did get them in.

Yep mines an hd same as yours was..lol. So your saying the slip from the 263 fits the 241..? If thats the case then thats one less piece to buy which is perfect in my book. What size are the studs in the 241 supposed to be..?

The studs are 10mm with a 15mm wrench head iirc.

The 32 spline on the 263 is the same on the 241 as well as the seal size, just pop a new seal in and slide in your stock driveline and if you are lucky you wont have vibes or need to make it longer.

Sounds good, i hope my stock shaft works that easy, also nice that the 263 slip fits the 241...perfect. Maybe ill get grade 8 studs and thread them into the case, and just get nuts for them. Then ill have it ready ahead of time.

thanks..much appreciated

Did you get anymore done today..?

Currently welding on the new brackets for the utility bed, trans fluid, lucas additives, pwr steering fluid and system bleed, filling the t-case..

Got the rear brake line done, fuel fill finished and adapted over, air box, pitman arm nut, drag link tightened..lots of little stuff. I had stuff todo again today so progress was slow.

With any luck should drive it in a couple hours if I can get the brakes bled and I have no leaks.

its 330 I am tired ass hell but it ran afterr putting in dome gas.

With open pipes it just started it once and shut her right off. One of my brake liness was a turd. But replaced thr inverted flare andd it sealed up finally. f to sleep for a few, 6am and a long day is ahead

only difference im seeing between shawns truck and robs truck compared to mine is that i didnt have a 263 t-case but rather a magna. which is a POS imo... but the slip shaft from that magan WOULD NOT fit my 241. luckily i had that 241 slip shaft and i mated it with my alll aluminum 1410 single piece rear shaft and the truck drives perfectly vib free, and thats on bead balanced 40's

another thing...i used studs on my 241 to stock adaptor then used the factory 15mm head studs and sucked it all up to the tranny. so far so good...

only other bit of usable info here...my tranny is a 29 spline 6l90e...so i stuck a big bearing dodge 241 input in my chevy 241 and TA-da ! bastardized chevy/dodge half breed t-case.

:woot:

Man, sometimes your ambition is insane, but at sometimes its inspiring!

Tell me about it..

I just stopped at my house for some lunch and fired it up again and put it in gear and its alive:D

Unfortunately I have no time today to work on it:doah:

Just needs.

- re-bleed of the brakes
-trans fluid rechecked
-exhaust
-front driveline
-rear lights
-new trans cooler
-tires swapped on the front of my ifs chassis to this one

I have a 1350 superduty cv shaft I bought a while back to build a spare for the buggy from so it looks like I will have that built into my drive shaft, glad I save some crap:thumb:I paid 100 bucks for the core shaft alone so the front shaft won't end up being cheap but at least ill have one.

"Part number for the vss 241 pigtail is gm 12085498".....from above post.

The vss 241 gm plug crosses to a standard s553....20.00....future referance a little cheaper.

No luck on the gasket you pictured...how much was that one..? 2424-5110 Edit...local gm has it in stock...lol. 8.59

Looks like you got the gasket handled, as for the cheaper vss plug.. I sure hope I wont be needing one for a while:eek1:

Its 7am here.. I just got in from another long night, working days then workin on this all night has just about burned me out.

Yesterday got the truck dropped off to the exhaust shop, he is right next to my transmission guy so I dropped off a core 4l80 while I was there for the 07.

Picked up the 06, I had him replace the cats with some low mile ones I saved from the wrecked 02, my cats were very plugged up he said. My 50 series muffler was about dead from all my goofing off and had a nice hole in it so I replaced that with a Vortex.. I am not a fan of the rasp magniflow sound and I wanted to try something other than another Flowmaster so I gave it a shot. Exhaust is dual in and dual out all three inch then to a Y to make a single at the very end. Ended up being 450.00 and I even had him tuck the crossover right up to the motor to make a trans swap easier in my future for when I finally run out of luck on my 190k mile trans as well as keep the exhaust tucked up so I can add a nice flat skid plate :)

Anyways, came back, changed out the steering box and put a solid 100 miles on it tonight:D Even with no shocks or steering stabilizer it rides damn nice and I am more than happy.

I need a nap, then Ill go drop off my driveshafts parts and pick up some shocks, maybe weld on mounts for a stabilizer too if I have the motivation.

One issue I have is I need to fully cut out the crossmember I had hoped I could leave in and the drivers side 52" spring seems less arched and the drivers side leans a good inch lower than the passenger side So maybe some new springs all together or I might try another 52" spring and see what she does:dunno:

Ill snap some pics soon.

I need to get this finished, I still have a trans to replace in the 07 and need to build new shackle/spring hangers for the rear before saturday.... :doah: running out of time.

That crossmember have to be cut out because of the low amount of lift..?

Yes, on my 07 I had fully removed it, I tried to leave it on this one but once the weight was on the truck its obvious I cant.

Been driving the piss out of it.. even with no steering stabilizer or front shocks it rides better than my cranked torsion bars and bad shocks ifs any day:D

Tonight I am going to get the shock hoops done, front shocks, and the hubs and in the am pick up my driveline.

Tomorrow the crazy stuff starts.. new rear hangers, shackles, transmission and brakes on the 07.. with any luck Ill get done by saturday morning and can get out to Barret Jackson, then come back and load up for the mud bogs sat night:D

What do you pay to get into Barret Jackson , I watch it on tv,but it sure would be cool to see live.

Truck is sweet looking BTW

Ive yet to ever have to pay as I know people who usually have vendor/seller/or buyer passes:pimp:

If you do have to pay its around 25.00 the regular days and 55.00 iirc on saturday.

Tonight rompstompinmonkey on here "Aaron" and I got the shock hoops bent up and the start of my new bumper.. as well as one that was wasted tube that will now be the 07's bumper lol.

Tonight I am going to stay up for a bit and make my templets for the frame plates and try to get a game plan. Then tomorrow at 8am go pick up my driveline for the 06 and the new trans for the 07.

The next 40 hours are going to be ruff but hopefully rewarding :)

good work man....let this be a lesson to everyone that acts like a solid axle swap is soo complicated and there is no simple way to do it.

you seem to manage just fine :haha:
