The "under destruction builds" supersize75k5 's driveway of despair and repair

I like that setup too Shawn, but were those coilovers valved for the dmax? They are going to be really stiff on the Jeepurai.

I didn't have a specific valving set, so that was going to be needed anyways.

The current hoops are just in the way so they are going to go now.

Fighting for uptravel, if I move the motor up and inch, or I can redo the passenger motor mount and move the alternator ..May

I'm leaning towards the later cause the stock same alternator is less than ideal anyways.

If I can fit the bypasses it may get them if not for the cool factor alone, I want 3.0's for the duramax anyways so we shall see.

Hopefully my links will be done today and I can make it a roller again.

1.25" hiems and 2" 7075 link wernt overkill for a lil ol jeep I hope :p

It might survive if someone else is driving

Maybe :pimp:

So this is my road hight thus far. With a front winch hopefully I can keep from going over so much with the short wheelbase.

Pass side, for a sami and mini truck axles I think it all fits on

I do love having piles from old projects and parts I haven't used yet, was able to make mock up links while I wait for mine..

Celica steering box is also back from getting rebuilt. Bummer is my new grill is going to have to be cut to go over it.

Using a mock up grill for now till I can cut kine or figure a awesome weekend way out of doing so. I want the front to look original so also thinking of hiding the winch beneath the rear floor and routing the winch rope to the front ..stealthy

some progress.

2x12" fox air shocks are on

3 link is in, used 2" 7075 aluminum and 1 1/4" hiems.. Should hold up:pimp:

Not. Much pic worthy, just a lot of welding, frame clean up and such. Body is slid back so I can work out he frame, shifters and firewall.

This set up gives me a possible 5 inches of upgrades before the drivers I've starts eating the the motor mount. I'm leaning towards 3 inches with keeping a lower ride hight though.

Also found these awesome lights from kc. They won't be here for a couple weeks but I'm excited to have these in the grill for amber lights. Should pair up with the led headlights nicely.. I'll probably change the silver screews to black though of possible.

Still waiting on my tie rod, track bar and steering though.

Moab trip is getting close!

Sweet willy's build, I like it. Willy's are just cool.

What ever happened with the 4L80E and trans brake in the truck? Any shortcuts to that area?

I decided to kill off the 07, I saved the axle and goodies for the 2010 duramax, that will be getting a build at some point.

It's 114 degrees here. Why not work on it :p

Updates,

3 link is done, frame is plated, when I get the steering I may stretch the front out 1 more inch

I swapped tires to a set of q78 swampers..good part is they have tread..but they are huge

Wheels are 16x8 American racing chainbers. I'm not in love with them but had a he'll of a time finding a solid looking metal wheel so I bought these for now. I'm going to plastidip them olive drab so I don't ruin the resale with paint.

Fore wall is patched. .had a million holes so I made a quick panel, figured I shouldn't do the metal work on firewall when it's likely I'll have to clearance it later for the motor swap.

Front bumper is cut and welded up aside from the winch fairlead.

Now the issue. . When I center the rear axle I'll be left with a 81 to 82" wheel base..I'm getting concerned with trail maners with the 35" rubber now. I'm debating having to do a frame stretch now but keep telling myself this isn't the buggy or I should wait and see how it does

It's tuff. Easier to do it now, but adding in another 10 to 20 hours of fab now really hurts my timeline to drive this in a few weeks and taking it to moab September 4th.

He drives like most 3rd world drivers and E-1 Privates in the military.

So just like people drive in all those Russian youtube vids?

I could just bolt some 52" tires up and drive upside down no?

Speaking of dashes lol

Got a bumper made out back, used the pass through shackle mounts, welded front and back.

Bumper is only 120 wall.. Figures now I care about weight :flipoff2: with the departure and approach hopefully driving by brain won't result in them mangled too early. For the caps on the ends I did use 3/16. The plates running down the frame are 3/16 as well. Went ahead and welded it all, I don't see a need to make it removable.

Started on the right rear fender and panel too. Marking, lining up, center punching then drilling 150 holes.. Sucks:barf:

Also mocked up the gauges and dash. Gauges are basic cheap 3 pack of sunpros from Amazon they fit in the hole and I was able to buy a matching fuel Guage. The speedo isn't here yet but is from speed hut, gps and I was able to match it too. Even does elevation, 0 to 60, 1/4 miles, direction and some other crap. I'm excited.

Using 4 switches and may add another after I body work the dash and fill those two random holes to the right. These are mock up, final result will have the on/off metal plackered thing behind it along with led indicators and the rubber boots.

One will be the horn, and momentary.

This is getting a consol so the electric lockers switches, 12v plugs, USB, radio crap, rock lights ect will be on there.

It's hard not wire this like my buggy but the time frame doesn't work and I know I have a drive train swap not too far down the road so.. Can always go crazy later

Switch dividers are just 1/2 pipe U-bolts to go with the air craft theme, these are just Nickel plated, pretty inconsistent with the u shape and too so I may change them to stainless.. Sadly those little guys are 8 bucks each
