Always wanted to hot rod one - you show off the motor upgrade one on here?
Just got motor for it a few months ago . Its in the pile of goodys to build . The warn XP guys use is 6hp and same basic price of the bow 2 6.8hp .

Motor and synthetic rope is the main difference between old 8k rated and newer 10k rated units .

@nutt7 guy on fb group just got one for 150 . . Wounder if same guy / area :rotfl:

I have done a few ramsey worm gears so i got them down good . Just need to do a warn 8274 to then finish the other ones up .

@sweetk30
Did you ever install get an Albright solenoid installed on one of the Ramsey winches?
:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: nope not yet . . . but i have collected more winches . . . winter project this season for sure as theHolmes 220 single line will be going onproject budget beater and i plan to have some winches on it .

I'm converting a Ramsey 7" drum to a 12" drum. Using a 12"drum pto as the donor.
I'm not having any luck getting this apart the rest of the way.
Anyone have any experience that could help me out?
It appears there should be a snap ring behind the input shaft bearing but not having any luck removing the bearing. The big {brass}? gear does not want to come out either.

Is it possible to rotate the worm as gentle persuasion is applied to the shaft that the brass gear drives - and after it’s removed deal with the worm gear assembly since it will be free from the continuous gear contact resistance at that point ?

Once removed it may take a little heat on the brass gear to separate from the shaft - I think they are an interference fit in addition to the retention between the two components. But I could be wrong - it’s been many moons since I‘ve been into a Ramsey.

I have tried that but will be giving it another shot today.
Input worm the bearings are just pressed in . It is no fun at all to get out .

I actually only need to do one or the other. The pto input shaft is shorter than the elec shaft so I can't just install the elec drive gears.
If I could get the main drum shaft off I could just install it on one of my electric units.

I got it.
What was throwing me off was the parts diagram was showing a snap ring should be there but come to find out the pto unit does not have one.
I went in thru the main gear opening and pushed the bearings out with a small punch.
I also ended up having to change the main gear as the elec worm gear is cut the opposite direction as the pto one and would not mesh correctly.
