As awesome as all of these pieces are, they look like they could be heavy.. You keeping mind of the weight?
They’re stacked .110, so not real heavy, but not that light. I should have done stacked .90 and .125 chromo. That’s the plan for the trans and torque arm mounts, and whatever comes after that.As awesome as all of these pieces are, they look like they could be heavy.. You keeping mind of the weight?
I autocrossed a 65 Corvair, minimum weight in the class I was in was 1850 lbs every ounce matters at that point, especially when you are up against Shelby GT350's that have 6-700 HP, but I have an air cooled 2.7L. I got questioned about air hammering some rear seat brackets off and I consider that serious weight. I'm going to have carbon fiber half shafts made, sand any panel I can as thin as possible, Carbon everything possible. Every inch of roll cage is weight I need to remove from elsewhere, that's how I look at things. They’re stacked .110, so not real heavy, but not that light. Hindsight.

The design has been revved to satisfaction. I want to drive the darned thing.So.... you are not going to need to redo the motor mounts then?
#FORWARD
It's flat to the bottom of the rail. Powertrain is at 2.4*. Anything 2 - 3 seems to be enough for oil to drain from the heads. That trans looks pretty tucked up - what angle is the drivetrain mounted at front to rear?
It’s good to see the engine back in the frame rails. I like the positive direction
It’s surprisingly easy to get mired in details and risk losing track of the overall project. This bit of progress has reinvigorated me.It’s good to see the engine back in the frame rails. I like the positive direction
I still have to make a tunnel. I’ve put it off because I didn’t know how tall it would be until placing the trans. How does the driveshaft get through the next cross member, or it it an optical illusion it will interfere?
Clicking together like a lego set.
