that actually sounds similar to the patch job i did on my passenger side floor. i used rivets too, though
. it was supposed to be temporary, just so i wouldn't have to see/hear the road whipping by through the fist-sized hole where i removed rust, but it's still there and going strong after about 3 years.

C'mon guys, you've gotta have some good examples. You can tell us the pics are from 'your buddies' vehicle we'll never know the truth 
If we get the back of my freinds blazer cleaned out tonight boy howdy are you in for a treat, fiberglass over rust bondo over duct tape and then more duct tape. its a real treat. I will see if I can get pics tonight
