Theft Proofing your K5 - What to do?

The whole point to making you truck theft proof is visibility. Someone is not going to steal your truck if the wheel is gone and there is a lock around the column. All the other ideas are great if you park it for awhile or in a desolate place but a thief isn't going to know that there is a fuel pump shut off until he has broke your window and smashed your column, a trick that I can do in about 15 seconds. Its all about deterrent at the walmart and malls.

very true, my idea for a hidden switches was because I was going to pull the collum and go strait shaft and have a push button ignition, so I wanted some safety

the cheap theft deterrent I always heard was handy for Jeeps when their tops are off was to take a giant Master lock and lock the brake and gas pedal rods together. Or the brake and clutch together if it's a stick.

But of course, anyone could just bust out some bolt cutters and take care of that problem real quick.

coil cutoff and wire the entire truck in yellow wiring.

I thought yellow was only for accessories. Electrons are only effective if they're running in a red wire. You could run purple, but they tend to jump to ground in confusion.

I'm kidding. But yeah, that's not a bad idea if you're 100% sure you'll never have to trace a problem.

The more I think about it , let someone steal mine . I have theft and full coverage ( I never use it for my dents , its just in case I get t-boned ) .

I could just take my cash from the insurance company and buy some tube , a fwd car , a couple np208's , and build a buggy for LESS than what I could sell the K5 for , and definitely spend no more than the insurance would give me anyway :D

What about agreed value insurance for theft and collision. My insurance guy said he could give me an agreed value of 5000.00 for just a few more dollars a month, more coverage if I wanted also. Truck gets stolen, I get a check for 5000.00

i don't know if it's the same in the US but my brother is in the army up here and whenever i go down to his unit i usually look at the trucks. lot's of them have a chain with a pad-lock threw the steering wheel that go's to a ring mounted on the floor. simple and effective.

Not sure if this was mentioned...but I feel confident with my 'secret toggle switch'....a cut-off switch for the main power traveling up the column to the ignition.
