Ya, wade’s running the feathery 10 bolt too. Unsprung weight is very important factor in gofastYepper. And that’s why I made the effort on the custom D44
But I wasn’t making it fly through the desert either!

That is a story I will have to tell later, but end of story drove it onto the trailer in 2 wheel driveWOW. Never seen an axle housing break like that. Bravo dude. Question is how'd you get it back to camp?
I was thinking that too, fabricated housing of some flavor.at this point you would probably be miles ahead on doing some custom thing. 9in center section etc.
So it's decided, I'm gona just build another 44. I got 9 years out of the last one and I want to keep the un-sprung weight down. Ive got all the inner and outer parts from my current one and that's what I'm gona do.
Sleeve the axle tubes with schedule 80 pipe ?...
I'm surprised the tube failed at that spot--usually they pull out of the pumpkin or crack there more often than anywhere else..
For what you do you've proved the 44 can survive. I think this was a freak failure with a combination of factors that did it in. Truss it all the way to the inner c on the bottom and incorporate some gusseting for the shock mount to the top side of the c and tube itself.
