Thought I'd show off the rig a little - *My official pic thread*

Oh no, the five spokes are just some old steelies and yes, they are old hummer tires.

i was like those dont look like hecentered h1s :haha: I liked them though.

Some of these pics were from wheeling with mike am i right?

I am curious how you like the 36" Goodyears? How are they on and offroad? How are they in rain on the road? I have a set that I havent tried.

Overall, they're ok. They're pretty good on the rocks but pretty bad if there is any mud at all. I've recently grooved them up and broke up the tread. It helped a little I guess, nothing super noticeable. As far as the road they are pretty good, not super noisey or anything. Haven't had them on wet roads a whole lot but when I have, I didn't notice anything bad about them.

looks good in for more pix

Ask and you shall recieve...

The following are pics from November of '08. This was sorta the beginning of the end for the stock motor. I daily drove the blazer for two weeks before this wheeling trip. Apparently it was burning oil, and naughty me didn't check the fluids before I went. :doah::shame:

While I was out, the motor developed a slight knock. But I also ripped off part of the stock exhaust right after the passenger side manifold (the one that went down under the front driveshaft), so it became hard to hear. When the exhaust got ripped off it slightly separated the tcase from tranny too so had to tighten up those nuts.

I think this was the first or second time running the h1 beadlocks. I aired down too much, which is what caused the ground clearance problems.

Stupid trees... this is what happens with a roll-on Rustoleum paint job.

Manditory flex pics.

Not bad for standard lift springs.

After I got home I told my dad about the knock. He said to check the oil. Sure enough, pretty much didn't have any in it... :doah: Filled it up with oil then it pretty much sat for a month or two.

Thanks for looking. :waytogo:

So, like I had said, after that wheeling trip, I parked the blazer. When christmas break came around, I decided I would try to fix the exhaust. I was going to fix it over at a buddy's house who had a welder so I check the oil just to make sure. It was low again, even though it had been sitting, so I added some more then proceeded to head over to my buddy's house.

It ran kinda rough and was really loud cause of the open exhaust manifold. While driving along, I heard a loud "clank" and lost all power along with a big smoke cloud. Once I had it stopped, I got out and looked under the blazer to see my front axle covered in oil.

Long story short, called my buddy and he towed me home. This is what I found:

What was left of the piston was slightly visible.

All of this was in Dec. '08.

I had never pulled a motor before or done really any kind of motor work. I decided to pull it myself and have it professionally rebuilt so I slowly started to disconnect wires along with marking them til it was ready to pull.

More of the story later...

im sure u could have em dipped in chrome or something...bumpers look great...thats what im leaning to when i get mine from blazenoffroad...ALOT cheaper than powdercoating...did u use rattle can or roll on???

***edit...nevermind the last part...i c wear u said its a roll on job...they make the bedliner stuff n spray can form as well...thats what i used to paint my stock bumpers so far***

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think your bumpers might be reversed...

that blown up motor needs to be recyled . i would not wast time and money on the rebuild after a blow up like that.

possible cracked block / crank / to much trash in the motor you will never get out.

go get a nice new or new to you hear it run first motor.

Bringing my own thread back up.

Had the motor check out professionally. I was thinking the same thing, that it would be cracked and no good. Turns out it wasn't. So it got a fresh rebuild with an rv cam.

i love this truck, i wish mine was nice and not rusted and beat lol

Thanks! :D

After the fresh motor went back in, it was time for some more wheeling.

This particular trail, I've done several times. This time was a little different (snow). I ended up getting hung up on the big rock.

Causing the way-too-long shackles the p.o. put on to get bent up. I didn't mind too much since I was wanting to get rid of them. It also bent up the tranny crossmember a little.

I ordered up some new shackles from DIY to replace the bent up ones. Ended up having a ton of trouble with this due to the bolts being seized in the bushing sleeves.

One thing led to another and I decided to throw some 52s under there.

Testing out the flex with the 52s to measure for front shaft and shocks:

Looks good. Are those BBCS? How do you like them?

Yep, in the 15" travel flavor. I have zero complaints about them. They've been great.
