Sooo, Early Bronco back, now Scout (EV) might be coming back and of course no vintage Blazer for GM, thoughts?

If I could get a pre-dieselgate diesel golf from them, I would. The hell with the emissions scandal, they aren’t the only company doing/done it.

Why not an EV scout. It’s their gamble. Probably just a reskinned ID.4.

55-60MPG @ 75MPH in a small wagon is pretty nice...

Equates to about a 750 mile range. Electric has a long way to go to replace this IMO. At least for the US where distances are greater and we actually have areas where you can't effectively charge an EV for hundreds of miles.

If they wanted to make money, they would put one of their small diesels in it attached to plug in a hybrid drivetrain.

40-50 miles electric only and then hybrid after. Similar to the jeep 4xE and the Chevy Volt.

It could do 40-50 mpg and have 3-400lbs of torque.

Instead of making a new thread, I figured I'd dig an old one up out of the grave.

I think these new Scouts look pretty neat. The Traveler SUV is in between a K5 and a Suburban in length, and has an optional on board gas generator to get another 150 miles out of it. They're claiming 500 miles on a charge.

I like its 1,000 lb ft of torque and optional sliding cabana roof.

Chevy could have made something cool like this, but didn't. Ford did, Jeep kinda always has. I'm thinking about putting down a deposit on one.

The only VW that have been good for me were the air cooled ones. The wiring and electronics were terrible on the Passat and Jetta I had. Glad they are gone. I can't imagine an all electric VW with all the problems I had

I support it, car culture is dying so anything to get attention on vehicles is good. I saw a new VW bus the other day, it was cool looking and stood out in traffic.

Still can't figure out why the Germans haven't got wiring down pat lol.

My 2019 Skoda (VW) had some weird electric secondary water pump for faster cabin heat. Threw a code (but one of those "hidden codes" that doesn't trigger a light) Mechanic knew that VW had been using a poorly designed electrical plug for years, sure enough, it was loose. Re-seated the plug, problem resolved.

But other than that it was a good car. Can't recall any real quality issues with it. The electrically heated windshield was pretty cool. The 1.6tdi did well...on more than one occasion 140mph may or may not have been attained lol.

Not your father's corn binder...

Who wants to support VW after diesel gate anyway?

Super lame...
I thought diesel gate was cool. Screwed the gov for a good while.
Unfortunately, the owners paid the fiddler.
Still, it was nice seeing a major company flipping the bird at the bullshit.

On a related note, I saw a new Bronco yesterday, with a grill like the EB and white paint like the top came off, etc. Wow, suddenly saw that it's a decent looking little rig.

That will happen to this new Scout, if they ever get it to tires on ground status.

I wonder how VW ended up with the Scout name and likeness.

I support companies thinking outside the box…..I don’t really agree with reusing names of once cool stuff on not cool stuff but I do think ford did a good job making the bronco look retro, dodge did good with the challenger, ford with the mustang….Chevy botched the Camaro big time….i have a feeling if Chevy tried a K5 rebirth it would be awful, ford dropped the ball with maverick, dodge brought the ramcharger name back with the new gas powered generator truck……the list goes on and on….
