yup that's what it sounds like when you spin the #8 rod bearing but it hasn't exploded itself yet
had a hard time pinpointing exactly where the sound was coming from before pulling this engine out. wasn't sure what I would find.
I guess part of the sound is the bare rod hitting the crank, and the piston was also slapping the head (it left aluminum traces behind where it was contacting the head alongside the combustion chamber). There must be plenty of valve clearance - nothing bent and no valve marks on the piston.
