Time for a 9"?

What gears you running. If your not going lower than 4.56 than look at a Chrysler 9.25. Very strong and super cheap. Drive shaft comes in higher too.

If your not out jumping it or running it through areas at high speeds, why are you worrying about unsprung weight? Just curious.

9" Spider Trax housing set up to accept 10" gears just in case, Spirder trax hubs or Unit bearings Which ever is your preference and 300M shafts.

I doubt you will have an issue and if you do you can go to the 10" gears and a spool and be fine.

That's the hellaflush look all those honda kids like!
:haha::haha:

Just to throw it out there, a stock 9" is a marginal upgrade from a 10 bolt.

There are tons of options out there to upgrade them and make them stout, but in stock form they're nothing too special.

9" in stock form is not much of an upgrade, plan on spending some money. The axles will still break, at the spindle I have first hand knowledge of this. In a bronco with 33" tires on it and a stock 302. stepped up to 36" swamper's and a 93 5.0 and did the full floater and upgraded axle shafts, yoke, etc etc.
pinion on the 9" sets lower I believe, then the 10 bolt and maybe even the 14 this could add to some unwanted u-joint failure / axle wrap. But you have a choice there as well with HI9 diffs.

You can bend a chromoly 35 spline axle in a 9". At 50mph hitting a large rock sliding around a corner.

Mine is a Currie extreme duty with a 9+ nodular pumpkin. So about as upgraded as one can get.

Im on the SF 14 bolt band wagon. Had one under my blazer on 35s for almost 4 years- i think. About 40 thousand miles of driving/ thrashing since its been in my ownership. Had it delivered to the place i worked for 4 or 5 bills...
About to need to change the brakes back there for the first time- and i better get back outside and put my new shockmounts on in case my driveshaft shows up tomorrow and i want to go romp on it.

A Guy i work with has a 6 lug sf 14 bolt in his 90 pickup... Im waiting for him to get crunched in it again so i can get my hands on the axle LOL.

my 90 burb has the 14bsf and 278k miles...

Wouldnt an advantage be swapping gears in a stupid fast amount of time? I mean to unbolt the pig and throw it on the bench.... Awesome

And i thought on a 9" if the axles break that they wont fall out like a ten bolt or 14sf will?:dunno:

You guys must have missed the part that he said he had a Mark Williams third for it.

That means beefy chunk, and either 35 or 40spline. So with even 35sp shafts its gonna be pretty stout.

Exactly what i was thinkin. Build this bizzatch, and possibly make it six lug?:dunno:

A tale from those who don't know how to set an integral diff......

But just changing a 3rd for a racing situation, or track to track you can't beat it
