Time to buy some tires...

IMG_2326.JPG IMG_2325.JPG General Grabber AT2 are an excellent tire! They're a great snowtire too! But...they come in 2nd to the Goodyear DuraTracs!

I'm on my 3rd set of DuraTracs in 285/70/17s! It's an aggressive AT! Fantastic snow tire, and they're
studdable!
 
We run nothing but Cooper tires on our patrol cars. We made the jump to the AT3 on our Tahoes when they came out and are beyond happy with them. Because of the area we are in we drive tahoes and have a few explorers left (unfortunately) because of the snow and the back roads we have. The AT3 is good at all but a master of none in my opinion, for your application I would say they would fit the bill perfectly. And as previously stated, they are made here in the USA.
 
Thoughts on tires?
My super swamper iroks are messed up so I need new tires.
I want something that looks really aggressive but does good on the street. I only go off-road a couple times a year.

I'm looking at the pitbull tires or nitto mud grappler or maybe the cooper MT.

What's the best agressinve looking 37" tire you have run?
Anyone have experience with the nitto mud grappler?

I need a 37 or 38 12.50 r 17 and guidance would be great.

I wish I could side by side compair my swampers with these other tires.
 
I just installed a set of X3 General grabbers. So far so good.
 
I love my toyo RT. 37 1250 or 1350. I also have excellent wear on my 37 procomp mt2. It's pretty aggressive tread with very streetable manners.

I was going to buy these but they don't hold up to even mild abuse. Shawn went through about 6 in one race. Then he blew up on a drive on his tow rig. For the extra 100 I'll buy the nittos which are tried and true. It's a shame I had hoped that they would be just like the regular grabber but more agressive.

Have any of you used the nitto mud grappler before? As far as style goes these are awesome but I hear they are crazy loud.

I wish I could compair them to my iroks as far as sound and comfort.
 
People who buy nitto mud grapplers rarely buy them twice. Not because they are bad tires but because of the noise.

You're comparing apples to oranges. Bias to radial. Off-road to street tires.

Either way my iroks were the smoothest tire I have ever had and the worst wearing. Nittos will last you 50k if rotated frequently. In my opinion you're better off with the trail grapplers. For many reasons but mostly the noise level.
 
Ok, if I go to a less aggressive tire would you do:
1.cooper discoverer stt
2.nitto trail grappler
3.mickey Thompson baja mtz?

I wish I could find a tire that looks as aggressive as the swamper irok but rode nice and wore well
 
Even better question. Anyone know of a 37" tire that actually measures a 37 (like the nitto mud grappler)
 
BFG ATs have been the industry benchmark since they were introduced, first tire to pass the new M/S tests, the new design looks like a few nice improvements on an already terrific tire. I've had 3 sets of the old KOs and always got 48K miles out of them.

I have Mastercraft Courser ATs (Cooper's fleet version of the Discoverers) on the Dodge, 48k on them now and I fully expect to get about 55k out of them. If you like the Cooper Discoverers, you should definitely look at the Mastercraft Courser AXT or CXT. They were $60 per tire cheaper than the BFG and $30 less than Coopers.

That is no good. I've had good experience with the red letter versions. No flats or failures in two sets on my recovery truck. I did notice the X3's did not seem as stiff even though they have the same specs overall.
