Well I posted my pics of my little backyard wheelin' adventure the other day and told you guys how I had 2 Blazers...the black one(nice) and the other one(currently being built for a truggy)...in that post I mentioned how my buddy screwed me out of the title and how I didn't know whether to wheel the tshi out of the nice Blazer or part it out...I have given up on getting the title for it...i'll just end up doing something stupid and getting myself into trouble...so based off of the pictures...what would you guys do? Cut losses and possibly part it out for maybe what I have in it?...wheel the iths out of it and not worry about the body...swap components to another Blazer?...sell it for parts truck ...and if you pick part it out let me know if you need any of the components...thanks Jeff

I didn't catch the first post...but it can't be that hard to get a fresh title. Have you're "buddy" go down to the DMV with you and they should give you the propper paperwork. Unless he doesn't have title to it, you shouldn't have any problems. I've gotten 2 titles this way. Or you could title jump...which is illegal. That involves taking the VIN from one vehicle and putting it on another.

Edit: If you sold it, then who ever bought it would be in the same boat as you.

This bastard was getting the title squared away while getting out of the Army about 6 months ago...he supposedly got the title fixed and was sending it back to me...I never got it...I started making calls and found out that he has disappeared, turned into a meth head, left his wife after 6 weeks of marriage, no longer pays child support, Harley Davidson, mortgage company creit card companies have been calling me to get in touch with him...I can't find him...truck is in his name...I live North of Ft Worth...his last address was Texarkana, TX...I get one weekend off a month(oilfield) so I don't want to waste my family time looking for this POS...I had the police go to his last known address and they found it abondoned(sp?)..i'm stuck and tired of messing with it...throwing in the towel and moving on...what's y'all's suggestion on the truck.

Buy a beater for a couple of hundred bucks with a good title. swap all the parts you want off this truck to that one and sell whats left. My .02

i would part it out, you might be able to make some money off of it

You should still be able to get the title transfered if it's his name then. Just have someone write you a bill of sale. Have them sign his name. The DMV may look at that and give you their paperwork, and tell you to have him fill it out. Then just have the third party fill that out too. I know that isn't the legal way to do it, but how many of you can honestly say you wouldn't try it?

I know it can be frustrating, but I wouldn't give up on it just yet.

for that nice of a blazer, find another title and vin plate. after that your on your own.

would be too much time and hassel to swap parts over.

no matter what you do, it's not in your name. not sure how it is in texas, here in pennsylvania, the original owner has to go to the DMV with a tile to get it transfered.

looked into that as well...Texas law...you have to have a copy of the owners drivers license...another dead end.

So, if you paid him for the rig do you have any bill of sale or anything in writing? Gi down to the local police department and speak with a traffic cop and see what they recommend doing?

I'd file for abandoned vehicle (cuz it is) and then you have a legal title and get to keep the truck. Might be a little more expensive that a traditional title, but at least it's better than the alternatives.:D

Know anyone who works for or owns a towing company?
They can get a title for you. Might cost you $100 but worth it.

Mechanics Lien, I've had to do that miltiple times because of dead beat sellers

mechanics lean would work, actually get a loan on it and spend it on it, keep reciepts incase your ex-g.i. turned meth head tries to get it back, he would have to give you the cash you spent on it to get it back and the bank sometimes will help title it in your name when loan paid off

here in az it works this way,

Fill out a simple 1 page form with your info, vehicle and situation or location info. Request someone to come out, look over the truck and tart the process. They then by mail attempt to contact the owner. Once that has worked out, you can then get a bonded title.

Really its not hard at all if your state uses a procedure even close to this, its the right way to do it. I would not mess around with swapping vin plates, easy way to to get you or the next owner in a little trouble. A inspector or officer with a good eye cold notice the rivits or suspect tampering. Here in az I got pulled over in my old 75 that I had done body work on the officer noticed the rivits, I could have been towed and ordered to have it inspected.

granted your vin tag in on the dash and not so open, I still would do it the right way and not have any b.s. to worry about.
