It's broken off in the block with about 1/8 inch or so sticking out. Needlenose and two hands? Heat?

i pulled one out with heat and a lag bolt made for wood. i used a lag screw eye to turn it in and then pry it up / out.

Is it a driver or passenger side dipstick? If driver side it won't be too hard to remove BUT if it's a passenger side you'll end up having to remove the pan since there is about 8-10" of tube that goes into the pan.

Driver side.

I used a dent puller with a larger than usual sheet metal screw adapted to the slide hammer thing on the end of it to extract one..seen another mechanic use a screw made for concrete ,those hardened blue ones to get one out.they are hard enough to cut threads in the old tube..

How did it get broken? My tube on the driver side is so lose that I need to hold it down when I pull the dip stick.

My truck is a frankentruck and I bought a new chrome dipstick/tube so I would have the correct one. It was catty wampus and I hit the new one little too hard trying to straighten it .

run like hell from chrome parts for engine and trans. :zombie15:

go to junk yard and get a good used one or heck ask here.

Be careful with heat, dont want the engine to go up in flames trying to get the tube out... Lol. If it wont come out you should be able to drop the pan if all else fails and push it out from the inside.. dont quote me on that though.

Use a square ez-out and tap it into the dipstick tube and then remove easy as pie. :thumb:
