Tire carrier/ bumper done ☑️

Maybe I'm missing it, but what did you use for a bearing on the hinge portion and where did you get it from? Also, what angle is that tire sitting at...it doesn't look 90*, did you do that to clear something or for some other reason? I've got an old hub from a d44 hd that I was going to use to bolt the tire to, would that work or should the metal extend out beyond the lugs to give the rim more surface to rest on?

There are 2 bearings inside the sleeve that goes over the post, the top bearing is right under that nut..which will be capped after I get everything coated.
Lots of outfits make the hinge kits, you can do a quick search on google for swing out tire hinge kit and see what you like, there are some larger diameter kits out there for big tire setups but . Some people use old hubs, some use trailer spindles etc...
It’s hard to tell from that pic but the tire is at 90.
I’m sure you could use a hub to bolt the tire to if you’d like, but I wanted to keep the weight down so I just used an 8 x 6.5 1/4” plate from DIY4X ($18 I think).

OK, thanks....I think I was looking at the wrong truck...It looks like the example truck from Mechted is the one that looks like it's at an angle. Armed with that knowledge, I'm sure I have enough to get myself in trouble. Thanks, guess it's time to get started and quit putting this off.

Nice, and still enough room to access key hole to roll down window? Looks like it
