Working on upgrading to 1 ton, looking for advice on rubber size. Been running 1/2 t setup w/ 39.5 s. swamper tsl's. K5 has been under light duty, so no breakage except u joints, and d. shaft so far. Want to go 1 ton axles, frt,& rear, but don't know how much difference in axle swap will make with ground clearance, etc? I think key here is I do not want to go down in size, might have to rethink. Have always wanted to run 42's, but am not up on the current tire sizes available for 1 ton 8 lugs! Any help guy's

im running 42-15-r15 on my blazer with 8" lift but i still rub on the firewall/fender area. it doesnt look like i can remove enought material to keep from rubbing either. but it looks like a 52" spring swap will fix the issue.

Ha that got your attention.. im running 8" wide by 15" diameter 8 lug rims with 2.5 inches back spacing on my dana 60 front and 14 bolt rear.. clears everything great! just need to cut the bottoms off my front fenders.. this is with 35" 12.5" 15"R bfg AT on the street.. off road u might have to do a little more

tennyohpc, 42-15r15's eh? What kind are they? Very interested in the 52" swap, any info on that? greythorn3, thank's that helps alot! 35", what size lift you running? CDA455, any info on actual size of those tires? Is the r for radial?

The actual dimensions are 37" tall by 11" at it's widest, with 9" tread width, mounted on 16X6.5 rims.
And yes, they are radials.

CDA, how do they drive out?

Do you mean how do they handle?

I don't have ANY brakes yet so I don't know how they handle/act/perform :doah: .

Yeah, was asking about the road manners you don't know about yet. :p:

Any feedback on the Goodyear MT/R's? They make a 40x13.50R17LT. 17" wheels equal more ground clearance right! From what I've seen so far this may be the tire for me. Looks like a decent on/off road compromise? It's not a swamper but, if I have to compromise, so be it.

Nope, wheel size has zero to do with it.

It's all about total amount of tire height.

You sure did pick one expensive tire.

I'm running 42x14x16.5 Irok Bias with 11" of lift. My biggest issue is the flat spots they develope in a matter of just a few hours. On a cold morning the truck rides like a paint shaker. On a warmer afternoon they ride nice.
If i was to do over again i think i would look at the radial irok.

Thank's guys. Right about the price, I'm still shopping. Makovai, do they make irok's in 42" radials? Haven't been able to find many tires this big in radial.

I beleive its only a 41 but the reason i didn't get them is they dont make it in a 16.5 wheel and i already had wheels.
Also the bias is way more aggressive looking, the tread depth is much deeper than the radial....i saw them side by side.

Thank's, Makovai. I'm going to look into those sstrok-27's. Really want to go with a radial tire, but don't want to compromise too much. What size wheels are you running with those 42's?

16.5 thats why i went with bias. the radial isn't offered in the 16.5

Right, Makovai, my question should have been what width are your wheels? I'm trying to get the right size for optimum use and wear factor. I know from past experience that too narrow of a wheel cause's the center of the tire to wear more than the edges. Plan on going with either 16" or 16.5" wheels Really like the look of the irok's over the goodyear's. Any feedback?

It's more about air pressure than rim width.

Ah
9.75 wide. Basically they say nothing smaller than 9". I'm pretty sure and 8" wheel is too narrow.
