Tired of junk production car haulers/ equipment trailers- this is a build

I'm digging the frame extensions. That was where I think mine's biggest failure was.

I didn't get as much done this weekend due to a work trip. My father in law came over staerday and got a GOOD coat of paint on everything. Took about 6 hours. Have to get it outside and look for spots to touch up, will use a rattle can for that. I got about half the lights on this afternoon after going to the gun show this morning.

looks good.

my hand hurts just thinking about holding a paint brush that long.

Actually used a 2 inch roller for the majority of it then brushed the hard to reach places (corners, etc) then spray the impossible to reach places. Yeah it sucks but a good paint job now will make the trailer last that much longer. Not really a place to skimp. We did 1 coat of primer and 2 coats of paint so literally its been painted 3 times by now.

I'm not sure, was shooting for 2k but added some weight in other places.

When the stack of 10 tires I have are all used up and blown out, new tires will be had.

Ten flat tires are a lot of work to do just to get some new tires that will last longer than those ten you just replaced.......You fish that one out of the pond yet?:D

Yea it's on the trailer . I haven't bought a new trailer tire in almost 10 years. They dry rot bad here at my house so o just replace them with used truck tires when need be. I'm a tire changing ninja on the interstate.

Im probably going for a floating deck, where a strip of 1/4 inch runs across the front and back through the wood with bolts or screws and the center is left open or "floating"

Got a few hours in. Aside from what you have already seen, this is really the details that set this trailer aside from "factory" cheap trailer (PJ, kaughman excluded)

Sealed 7 way plug, only way to go.

Ran into prewired junction box, then 7 way cord (proper cord with 3 12 AWG wires) back to the axles.

Then a splice at the axles, all connectors are butt connected and heat shrinked.

I have one more junction box in the rear, still to wire up. I have 3 way butt connectors to jump from running light to running light. All ground come back to the boxes. Grounding lights to the trailer does not work in the long run. Should be ready for wood early next week, then to load up the rig, test drive and then head out to harlan the weekend after. Tick, tock.

fyi those tounge mount plates are NOT to be bolted on with the center 2 bolts . they need to be welded to the trailer frame.

just installed mine and paper work with it said this info .

LOVE the wiring setup ! ! ! this is were 95% of the rest sell you CRAP @ PREMIUM prices . scotch locks / non sealed butt connectors / hell even wire nuts .

Thats funny, mine came with 2 9/16 holes and said to bolt it on. I enlarged the holes to 3/4 and used grade 8 bolts. They aint gonna break. After reading numerous stories on pirate with the holes where the ball mount bolts in wallowing out over time its be recommended a number of times to make them bolt on so they can be easily replaced. Mr N. on pirate actually welded DOM washers to his to help out. The bolts holding the braket on are larger than the ones holding the ball mount on.
