TnA Release of Winch Cradle!

Can you get a pic? I would be interested but I don't want to start more of a project than building a new one.

I FINALLY managed to get over to my buddie's place and snap a few pics of the winch cradle mounted to an older frame. The ends of the frame horns had already been cut on his truck, so in the pics they are cut more than is really needed for the cradle. If it was cut right, I think you could get all of the side bolts into the actual frame rail. You will definitely have to drill some new holes too. Here are the pics I could get:

Finally completed...
I purchased the "Weld It Yourself" kit from Darren... GREAT kit, pieces were labeled which goes where, made the weld up portion simple. Everything fit like it was supposed to!

Looks good on there man!!

Kinda off topic, but have you got anything for the rear mount winch?

Not as of yet, but the whole reason that I held out for a Blazer/Jimmy instead of one of the many pickups I looked at was to be able to design a rear winch bumper that clears the tailgate and the gas tank :) I'll be trying to get to designing it very soon!!

As far as the Warn M12 goes, I'm pretty shocked at Warn's website but they don't have their technical drawings available any more (at least not that I could find). It shows the mounting pattern to be the same as the winch cradle, and then it only lists overall dimensions. Height-wise you should be fine, and from the picture it looks like the solenoid box is clamped around the motor, so positioning it forward to fit shouldn't be a problem either. Width is listed at 24.375" which is a little wider than the framerails on these trucks. So the only thing I can be sure of is that you WILL have to trim the lower leg of your frame to get it up in there. Just how much, I'm not sure. Possibly quite a bit. If you already have the winch, can you get me a dimension from the center of the rope drum to the outside edge of the motor? That would tell me for sure how it will fit.

Has anyone gotten you the measurements yet? I'm interested if I can fit a M12000 in there.

Nope, haven't had any actual measurements on that winch yet. I'm sure it could be made to work - I think the worst case scenario would be that you might have to re-drill the holes in the winch cradle to offset the winch a bit and trim your framerail a bit to accommodate the motor or gearbox on one side or the other. I just can't say for sure without seeing a winch or getting true measurements. :) Also, the cradle should support the loads of a 12k winch, but it has never been tested in real life with one, so no guarantees there either!!

Let me know the soonest you can get a set of wings made up. I'm ready finally to get them and finish up my front end

Would there be any way to modify the rear mounting location to something different? I have the 2wd cross member in my Frankenstein.

What type of modifications is needed for the bumper to bolt over this?

I think they were referring to (and I even thought this at first too) that since we can't see the filler in the pic, it looks like you have an upside-down diff cover!!!!
