Tool storage ideas

I’m a big fan of tool rolls. I carry three. One has the 1/4” & 3/8” sockets/ratchets and extensions, screwdrivers, small pliers and side cutters. Bigger Roll up has the 1/2”size gear, bigger pliers, torx and Allen bit sockets. Last roll up has ratcheting wrenches in metric and standard.

I fit them behind my seats and they stay put and easy to get to.
I like rolls too. Right now I have a bunch of individual canvas zipper bags in a toolbox. Kind of same idea, really stops the rattles and noise off road.

I like what Merrick built for his blazer.
The specs aren't on his site anymore and I haven't reached out to see if he still has the dimensions he would share as I'm not quite ready to do it. Though I need to figure something out as things are just thrown in the back right now and I have to make sure windows are rolled up and doors are locked.

I think about doing something like this but want it to be "waterproof" or as best as can be considering. As well as lockable. I want to switch to the soft top and truck tailgate at some point and would probably run that year round so would need the box(s) to be lockable. Ive talked with a buddy some who works on boats/upholstery and would get some good materials for the build if I went that way. I also thought about building a spare tire mount off the CUCV shackle mounts and upper bumper mounting bolts or just build a complete new rear bumper/tire mount to get the spare out of the back and build/buy a box to maximize the space in the back.

I like the drawer slider idea better than a tool box as you can slide them out to get to stuff in the box instead of having to crawl up in the back of the blazer to get in the box. Or step on the bumper/tire/etc and reach over the side or back.

It's not like ice road truckers. There's a road under the snow.
