That’s a long wait. Got mine couple weeks after ordering :D

Roll up the sides and rock it around town.

When was that? Apparently they recently switched suppliers and that's what took so long

I was about to give up when I got the shipment update notification from FedEx. But really who else makes tops for these 1st gens? Lol

They ended up giving me a 50 dollar credit and a rear mesh screen addon

I believe they merged with besttop. If you google their location its in the same building. I remember getting an email from them a while back as a "subscriber" to their updates.

Looking great! For a few more dollars, you could reinforce the side windows with a 4” patch where the plastic elbow touches the window. The chafing will eventually cause the window to crack. See pics.

Good advice right there!

Thanks. Learn the hard way. On my 5th soft top now in 15 years. The windows always start cracking at that location or anywhere that shows signs of rubbing or chafing. See pics of my wear marks after only 1 week of use.

Also learned not to put the Velcro adhesive tape on the back tailgate. All it takes is 1 good hot 100 degree day and the adhesive melts and drips down your nice tailgate and the Velcro strip comes off leaving an ugly mess. (See pic) Best to use snaps or nothing at all for the back.

They usually only last a few years daily driving. Hope this info helps!

Some of the soft tops you can get away with using a tailgate cap from a fleet side truck and put the Velcro on it. Like What LMC sells in their catalog. I had one bent out of heavy sheet metal to rivet the snaps to for my old best top and then modified it for my STC fast track. I also had welded nuts to the inside of the tailgate like a riv-nut. I did this back when I did all the sheet metal work so that I can swap between the cap and the hard top strip.

Looks good. It's shame they cost so much., seems a bit excessive.

I also wonder how they would hold in the Arizona sun. My k5 is driveway parked and takes a beating in summer months.

About 5 years if you don’t take care of it.
Mine has been in direct sun the whole time and I have been very negligent in it’s care. The thread stitching is what is failing in mine. The canvas and windows are still pretty decent.

What is used to keep them fresh?
Also they sure seem to make these trucks even easier to steal... especially like mine. Mechanical everything...I could put the battery in the garage when not in use... a small deterrent but certainly not full-proof hahahahaha

A lot depends on weather and type of terrain.

My first top was 1 year old and got killed by a narrow trail and thick bushes.

Second, dead tree happened to fall on it right as I drove by and busted the passenger window. Lucky I guess. Driver window got busted from car wash week later.

Third and forth both because of driving in negative -10 to -30 degree weather. Windows get externally brittle.

I threw my hard top and oem tailgate in the trash years ago when I lived in warmer weather (Utah). Never thought I would be living in a colder big mountain state. (Montana)

Would prob trade my new topper for a good hardtop and oem tailgate if anyone is down! Lol!

I LOVE the softop and truck tailgate. I will never go back. I’ll just replace the top whenever it needs it. Even at 1200 bucks, every 5 years that’s 20 bucks a month. Well worth it to me. And on the theft thing, pbbbthh. It’s a squarebody. You can pop the door lock with a coat hanger in 10 seconds, Soft top don’t matter.
