I put up an add on CL wanting a welder in trade for my Taurus 85 38 special. It was around $380.00 about a yr ago when I bought it new.

I bought if for CCW my only carry my Glock. I figured this would be a good way to get my first welder.

A guy is textin me right now that is interested. He has a Lincoln Pro Mig 140.

Waiting on the exact model number to do some research.

I've heard some things about the Weld Pak from the box stores. If this one of those, should I hold out for another offer?

I had one of the box store weldpaks sh*t the bed...

I saw that in a tread you posted in a while back. If its the Weld PAC, I won't trade. If its a Pro Mig, I will do it. Just want a welder and the wife doesn't want me blowing cash right now. Hopefully I can get a decent welder.

It's a Lincoln Pro Mig 140. Should I do it. Need to build a bumper and a hydro assist resi mount. And it goes on from there.

Thanks.

good beginner unit... i ran a 110 mig for yrs... obviously check used values...

as long as the values are equal, sure why not...

All I can say is make DAMN SURE you go through someone with an FFL.

For sure. The gun is on my CCW permit. Its a cheap gun I thought I would use, but my Glock 27 is about the same size. Never use it. Just sits in the safe. I thought if I could turn it into a welder, It would get more use. I need a welder and I have no use for the thug slayer.

and gun trades or sale are prohibited item on c-list

I know!! I got flagged twice. Then I didnt say firearm, I said thug slayer. It worked. Sure wish i could get a few more offers though. O well, This will get me learning to make a bead and start welding. I can upgrade later.

Honestly I think it'd be a fine trade. How much worth is a gun you never use compared to a decent enough welder that you'll actually use. Plus it'll get you hooked enough to buy a better welder as soon as you can.

I know! Im actually giddy about it. I really hope it works and the trade goes through. I have a few things planned already. I will be doing a lot of research and have a lot to learn and am excited to have a welder. The Suburban will start loooking a whole lot different.

I cant remember if the lincoln 140 is a gas welder or is it a fluw core only unit. We always run millers. I think out smallest one is the 180. As long as you can run gas do it. I think you can weld up to 1/4" thickness with that machine.

Good lord the things I could trade some of my (what I consider to be) worthless dust collecting firearms for. Then again I also have to much crap in my garage as it sits now. Cash is sounding better all the time.....

So, I went and checked out the Lincoln 140. I passed on it. Later today, I went to a guys shop to sell him some front springs. While there after selling the springs, we made a deal to trade my gun for a Miller Auto Set 180. Comes with cart and a bottle! Super stoked.

incredible deal man! i bought one a couple yrs ago for like 750.. nice machine.. congrats!!!

Thanks! I'm super happy right now. All giddy. Sold those springs for $260. That will go to get my garage wired for 220. I'm a happy mofo right now. Can't wait till Wed to make the trade.

are you getting the bottle too, or just the machine? that's worth money...
