Little too late for that Rollcenter.
While I would agree with you that a flat bed with fold down sides would be good for the functionality there are several reasons we did not do that.
First it would defeat the point of all the frame shortening to fit a short box on it. Secondly, it would not give us any "bill board" space to deliver the message.
Part of the point of this truck is to haul trash the other part of it is to deliver a message to the general public that we care enough about our trails to build trucks specifically to take care of them. Both will help our cause as wheelers to help keep our trails open.
So while I agree that the flat bed would work well for the first part. It also has to be cool enough and clean enough looking to draw people in to look at it. Once they start looking, then they will be able to read the message we have to deliver. If it looks too "redneck" it will just get ignored or brushed off. (I know, hard to do with a very old redneck truck in the first place).
I still have a LONG way to go to get it to the end product.
