Trail guns: What do you pack?

yeah, i was going to get an H&K USP .40 and then i saw the tactical, and was having a hard time deciding.

im glad i got the .40 S&W Tactical-- at least for now. one day i'll get the h&k usp .40

next on my list is Ar-50

my buddy has one. it's the sickest thing ever. i have some pics if you're interested in them.

What made you get the tactical over the HK? I like both brands, but kinda partial to S&W...

I just liked the S&W Tactical better. It was comfy and didn't bother me to conceal it, and im not big (well, was smaller when I got it) - I used to carry my cap gun (.22 semi auto) , but that was more uncomfortable than a .40

I'm happy with my purchase, and would suggest you take a look at both. Real guns are cool :waytogo:

can't think of anything better than a 18" bbl pump action shotgun with a side folding stock. With slugs you can stop a bear, its relatively compact, its reliable and the intimidation factor when dealing with hostile human animals is off the charts. I'm gonna make a rack for mine after I get the cage done...

yeah , it's sick. even comes with tylenol.

if you shoot at free public ranges, the people start leaving. kind of funny, but yeah, kind of funny :]

I had (before they banned hand guns   ) S&W 357 mag in stainless with a trigger job and hogue grips that I used for competions, .38 snub nose for fun and as a New York reload when pin shooting, model 29 8 3/4" barrelled .44mag for fun and my absolute favourite, Colt .45 gold cup ultimate with virtualy the whole Wilson Combat catalogue on it :D .
I used that for pin and steel plate shooting and having a good time. I used to carry it in a Galco Miami classic rig with 2 spare mags under the right arm. Very comfy and concealable (yeah you're right...we weren't allowed to 'carry' guns but.....!) I REALLY miss that gun. :(

I like wheel guns. Either GP100 6" or SP101 (Hogue grips, stock is too small) 2", both in .357 Mag. With inverted shoulder houlsters, speed loaders, and Federal Hydroshocks.

I also have a modified Bushmaster M17S with EOTech Holo sight that is going to ge mounted beside the seat when (if?) I ever get around to finishing the camping rig. I've got 2000 rounds of ammo and 4x30 rd clips plus a 10 round. Sort term plans are 4 forward rails with tactical light and laser with pressure switches on the forward grip... Also planning on some custom receiver and trigger work. Should be sweet...

Colt .45 Auto 1991A1 commander , I usually leave my long guns at home.. but when I get to a point that I have most of the K5 pretty much done.. I think I may see about a Colt (Govt/law enforcement only) carbine .. in a 223. ... or a model that's along those lines. Something that tucks into the headliner area real nice and sweet... and is still manuverable from the drivers seat/cab .. once it's taken down. :cool1:

did they take them from you? or were youa ble to at least sell them to someone
We had to hand them in. They gave us compensation but how can money compensate for losing your guns? I made a few quid on the .38 and .44 but lost a load of money on the tricked up .357 and .45. Especially my .45!

That is exactly the desire that led me to the M17S. Smaller than a carbine but much more accurate due to the longer barrel. Only problem is the stock fixed sight system SUCKs.

As my name says, .308 (7.62 nato), and you can't go wrong. Accurate, long range, and very lethal. Keep with a shorter barrel and either a bolt or lever for a true trail gun. Both are fast enough to work, and easy to clear jams, unlike a semi. Sights can be either scope or iron, but a scope is easy to damage on the trail. Good set of irons work really well. As for a pistol, I carry a Colt .45 acp 1991A1. Have used springfields, but had to clean them after 50-100 rounds or they jammed. Good basic model Colt can be dropped in the mud, picked up and shot. the Colt I use is a basic model with a few mods, it is very accurate, and the 1911 models can be carried safely with a round chambered.

On the trail I carry a Colt Trooper MKIII .357 (oldie but goodie) When long term camping I'll take my BrowningBPS Stalker 12 gauge. Hunting I use the Browing,Remington 1100 or my Remington 7400 .308..

When I finally get around to going out, Ill be taking my Beretta 92F 9mm, with +P hollow points. I got a real good deal on the gun, and wouldnt miss it too terribly if it got damaged.

If Im really worried, Ill bring the Para-Ordnance P14.45 LDA LTD. Full size 1911 style with 14+1 round capactiy. Double action. Nicest gun I own. Also the most expensive  .

If I want a long gun, probably a scoped Mossburg .308 bolt-action. Or possibly my Colt AR-15...

i have an EXCAM 9mm. LOVE it! have had and shot many others but this is a keeper. a 9" knife and that is about the extent of protection i need down here. its enough to fend off the critters that cross the border :wink1:
