Anybody have recommendations on a good rebuild kit there are so many junk parts out there. I know Ill need some hard parts propably a sun shell and a sprag but il figure those out when I get it out.

I have used parts from Dacco & others. Dacco's electronic parts are hit & miss. I only buy Delco electronic parts now.

why not just get crate tranny and have full warrenty ?

bowtie overdrives or monstor tranny. and i think 1 of them sells kits for the reman if you wana do it with your case by your self also.

Yeah, unless you are 100% confident in rebuilding your own trans,, I just replaced one on a family members truck 4L60e through a large trans shop in Indiana for $1100 with warranty. Haven't had any issues with it yet and it's been used every day since September so far. These and the 700's have been around long enough now, and the shops have generally rebuilt/replaced enough of them by now to know how to get the job done right. They SHOULD anyways..

if youve done any older trans rebuilds like a th350 or th400 700r4, a 4l60e shouldnt give you any trouble really. done a few in my time and its not to ruff

Well I just picked up my trans from a shop I found local to me a place called phoenix transmission they were great to work with and there shop was top notch. So heres some pics of a few of the parts that let go the rear sprag and sun shell. Now Im off to install wish it would just install its self.
All wrapped up and ready to go.

And then some new exhaust stuff to clean up the P.O. hack job it was true duels 2.5in with flowmasters. Now it will be 2.5 to 3in y with a single dynomax flowthrough muffler.

Very nice! If you don't mind, how much for the rebuild??

The guy who did the rebuild is actually a member on here so if he wants to chime in and let you know the price thats fine but he gave me a really good deal and I don't know how he is on his pricing.

No biggie at all. I just know my tranny isn't going to last forever and I'm sure a rebuilt or replacement will be in it's future. I would bank on maybe $800 for rebuilt and $1300 for a replacement.

Just more curious for conversation than anything. Thanks!

Just got back from driving trans is awesome nice smooth shifts and shifts really quick at WOT. I love it also the new exhaust is much better its quieter and doesn't give that drone in the cab that you get from the flowmasters.

did you use a can of cooler flush on the tranny cooler lines before install of new unit ?

I certainly hope he did, i've seen enough people toast a rebuilt trans from not doing that and sending all the trash through the rebuilt trans.
