Transmission went BOOM!!!! Update with pics 4/14/2011

I hope you have better luck with the Phoenix Transmissions unit than I did, that was the one I had to replace out in Indiana this past year, the one I bought from them while here in Arizona only lasted 2 years and the same part broke on mine as you have pictured, although slightly more dammage and flopping little gears..

Are you talking about a shop in Arizona or Texas?

It was one here in Arizona, naturally different people working on the transmissions, just hoping they don't have the same work ethic I guess and skimp out of certain things that should have been replaced just to save themselves a few bucks.

I don't think they are the same outfit. Phoenix in Weatherford has had a pretty good rep locally for a long time.

Definately not associated with any shop in Arizona in any way shape or form, that outfit was called "Phoenix Remanufactured Transmissions", sold a lot of stuff on e-bay and did a pretty fine job of hurting a lot of consumers with the way they did "business". We still get angry calls from their customers over two years since they shut their doors, (or were forced to close by the DA). Try an internet search for "Phoenix Remanufactured Transmissions", "Phoenix Hard Parts" or "Frank Kupperman" and see what I'm talking about. We tried through legal channels to get them to change names but we couldn't enforce it. I don't even want to think about the possible damage to our company and reputation those malicious, greedy, bastards may have done. Sorry, I guess you can tell I'm a little sensitive about that subject....

My appologies then, very similar name, kinda odd that the one out there is so similar though. Like a trucking company I drove for once, you all have seen them running around... "Prime Inc." what the name on the truck doesn't show, is the real name of the company, "New Prime Inc." I don't remember the whole story, but they were forced to shut down the old name/company for some reason, and just added "New" to it to make the new name, still a sh!tty company to drive for though.

Anyways, it sounds from your description that you may have a decent rebuild with the add-ons and upgrades and whatnot. Take care of it, keep it cool and clean, it should last.

Like I said, the one in the '94 (4L60e) was fine, but the day i was towing a F-150 on a flatbed trailer back from Chicago to Fort Wayne, In. I got about 1/2 back and it just quit, took off from a stop light, nice & easy as I had been doing all day, then it just started making this horrible grinding noise, like someone was grinding the gears, it gave no warning, no bangs, no shudders, nothing, at first I thought something was dragging on the trailer, but then when I slowed down to turn into a parking lot, the grinding got slower too. Checking things out, I put it in reverse and it just ground like it was hopping gears or something. I knew then, I was dead in the water.. :doah:

The shop I had it replaced at showed be the broken parts, and like I said earlier, same part on mine broke, just alittle bit worse. They did say they could tell it was a recent rebuild with a new wire harness and other compontents, but couldn't give me a definate answer as to why that part failed.

Anyways, good luck, not in a sarcastic tone either,,, :D
