Truckasaurus. The rebirth and resurrection of a fallen legend

Not sure if they are. I bugged Kurt and the timing was right I guess. I don't think it is up on his website yet. I have been buying a ton from him and I guess I was persistent enough..... lol

Its the small things right? Got my top cover painted tonight.

Ha thanks guys. I have a couple of objectives with this build. First and foremost is I want a bombproof, reliable, and dependable build. I am looking for this truck to take me and my family deep into the back country and out of way places and not have to worry about things breaking down, batteries dying, getting stuck etc

This is what leads me to redundancy in the build, whether it be the dual batteries, spare tires, or cooling systems.

Second objective is I want to make something I will use. I don't want a show queen, something that while functional and practical is gonna stay safe and clean. I want to use it, abuse it when necessary and treat it like a tool.

Third I want to anticipate and potential weaknesses and build / prep them as much as I can. I would rather take my time with the build and do it right than rush it to get it back on the road. Basically do it once.

Finally, I want it to be something my wife won't be afraid to be seen in. That is why she is choosing the color and the reason I don't get to paint it camo.

Engine, trans and TC are out. Had some help from a buddy of mine today. First time (apart from the axles) that I felt that I could use an extra set of hands. It just goes so much smoother when you have someone else helping. Especially when they know what they are doing, which he did.

I dropped (literally) the transfer case the other day so all that was left was the trans and engine. Came out fairly easily, we did need to end up cutting the headers as they were really getting in the way and were pretty thrashed. Apart from that took about two hours. No the real work begins....

Does gender have anything to do with not wanting to be seen in a camouflage rig?

Picked up a TBSS intake this weekend. Larger injectors and throttle body. About a 20 hp pickup.

Thanks for posting comparison photos because I had no idea this intake was bigger. Is this still a cathedral port intake!

yes, it is a direct bolt on. I got the intake complete with injectors and fuel rail, but I am using the gaskets from my old intake. Sensors swap over (although there are a few in the wrong place).

Rolled the truck out into the driveway to powerwash, clean, degrease and get ready for POR15. Took a few hours but got it 90% of the way there.

Got my American AutoWire Highway 22 kit in yesterday. Pretty intimidated by the wiring and how much work it represents. This project has just grown and grown and grown. Kinda overwhelming at times. Pretty worn out by how much work I have ahead of me. I used to think that the engine was gonna be the big part but that is looking like it will be one of he easier things now. Guess we will see.

I am waiting on my crossmember so I can drop the LS in and see where everything lines up. In the meantime I have been painting, cleaning and prepping.

I decided to dump the gray and hit all the accent pieces in Chevy orange. I know I know really exciting and tech, but .....

I did get the DIY4X LS motor mounts installed and ready. Moved the PSC pump over onto the LS also.

I know this is gonna be sweet, but wiring is not my strong suite.

yea, I know it will be good in the end, it is just not something I particularly wanted to be dealing with. To be honest, it is not the wiring that I am concerned about, as that is pretty straight forward and the directions are pretty detailed, it is routing everything correctly and securely. I am not sure how many places I will need to gut the entire old assemblies and reinstall new ones.
